It's not so much "backyard" per say, but I've been attending shows in the Amarillo, TX area for about a decade now. A few of the people are actually talented and have done shows throughout New Mexico, Colorado, and the Panhandle of Texas. These are usually old shopping centers, bars, and the one I went to for a while was in a warehouse. The "wrestlers" are primarily weekend warrior types who usually work construction, Home Depot, truck drivers, etc. Most of them are juggalo's and get off on beating the shyt out of each other and they're usually pretty drunk or high. They "train" but I dont know how much officially they are taught. I think I heard of one guy who knew of training attended a few weekend seminars for a few years and told anyone who'd pay them money a bunch of bullshyt so they can put on a 10 min throwaway match. They go through the motions and actually try to move through a few matches eventually.
It's not the greatest thing, purely there for the fukkery aspect of it. They let you bring in beer and you usually see some outlandish shyt.

Yep and I agree with you. However, there's a variety of BYW feds and some focus on the grappling aspect. Oh yeah, hopefully we can get this thread poppin. Because I plan to post more feds and give backgrounds on them.

The sad thing about following these types of shows is seeing how much damage a person's body goes through doing stuff untrained and trying to get a reaction for such little crowds and practically no pay. I've seen guys who were 18-22 getting into it and several years later, they have done so much damage to their bodies the can't live normal lives.
This is one of the more marque guys who came through once every few months. A lot of this footage was some of the shows I'm talking about attending.
I dont tell a lot of my friends or coworkers I attend shows like this from time to time, or even did in the past. It's pretty embarrassing that I was in the same vicinity as some of these people. but when I was in college I did some photoshoots, setup social media pages and even did some design work for shows and was given free admission, worked the music a few times, and then did a few write ups. It really didnt give them any exposure or do anything for their "careers" but seeing someone tell them they were entertaining, meant the world to them.
Occasionally they'd get some somewhat known wrestlers but it was pretty bad to showcase that this is what Amarillo (a town with such rich wrestling history) has to offer nowadays.
