No...the entire football has to be behind the end zone for a safety.

So as long as the nose of the ball is out of the end zone, it isn't a safety.

The ball isn't in the end zone when the QB is downed? How is that not a safety?

was thinking the same thing too when they were reviewing and showing the replay. but oh well...

No....it's where he's initially touched. Like when a receiver catches the ball and is pushed back. It's the spot of the ball where contact was made, not where he ends. :heh:


Geez.....do dudes know the rules to football?

ok they got the VP of refs on, he said the whole ball has to be out of the zone. if a piece of its in there during the contact and the player lands in the endzone, its a safety. ill admit ive seen some really similiar plays get spotted on the 1, it was really really close

No....if a piece of the ball is in the field of play, it's not a safety. The entire ball has to be in the end zone.

That's not an entire ball out of the field of play.

Read what Pierra says again. He says the entire ball needs to be out INTO the field of play. Part of it is on the goalline, thus it's a safety
