Even if Biden wins it just feels life a hollow victory. The fact it was this close just feels so fukking disheartening. I don't know, I feel the same sense of hopelessness and despair that I did 4 years ago. This wasn't a rejection of fascism and trumpism, this was a really sloppy baseball game that went into extra innings because defense and the bullpen kept blowing leads and now you just want the game to be over with. And on top of that I am very deeply conflicted over the people in my life that I've loved or respected that have joined the Trump cult, I can't look at them the same and don't want them in my life anymore, it's just a really shytty feeling.

Protests are one thing, riots and looting are another. The firat month of the Floyd protests was a global movement. You had hard right wingers saying how fukked it was. Looting turns people off in a big way.

Exactly right, they view all Democrats as socialists so why not just run a damn socialist and get the blue vote solidified. Dems run moderates that the right call socialisst, so you lose the right, and Dems know he/she hates socialism (or the idea of it) so you dont get that vote either

Exactly. You see how its everyones fault but the candidates. A country founded on protest. Got MAGAs stopping traffic all over the country and nobody really cares because its only bad when liberals protest. Weak leadership.

Hopefully Biden pulls this out but the Democrats have a lot of work to do going forward.

If wish they did, but they don't. They vote based on social issues and which socioeconomic group they identify with.

Yeah but you’re acting like both parties supporting pro-corporate economic policies and waging political theater wars on social issues has nothing to do with that.

People see both parties as doing nothing for working class/middle class people and the right goes super hardbody about culture/race/religion. The left is pretty apathetic and not mobilized by anything other than opposition to the right.

If there was real leadership in the Democratic Party that gave people something to vote for in terms of simple digestible policies that will improve your life they would do a lot better.
