For a team that was supposedly going to come in and completely bulldoze the Jays, the Dodgers have been the clearly better team just once out of the four games that have been played so far.

It took them 18 innings to beat the Toronto Blue Jays-Buffalo Bisons last night and even then came down to our worst pitcher. I wasn't sure how much I was buying that narrative today, but today it all looked pretty good. Maybe the Jays were a little fresher because of the substitutions too. World Series, and playoffs, everything comes down to the attrition game like a heavy weight prize fight

Honestly, last night’s game proves that a team who had a great performance in a previous playoff game or playoff series doesn’t mean they will repeat or replicate the same great performance in the next playoff game or series. In baseball, Past performances/outcomes are not indicators of future performances/outcomes. Playoff performance in each game or round of the major league Baseball playoffs is always on a case to case, game to game basis. Momentum rarely carries over the next game. Each game has its own story unlike other sports with best of seven series such as hockey or basketball because baseball has too random variance between games. Baseball is just a fickle and Capricious game, on any given night, if a team does the right things , they can beat the best players and the best teams.

In game 3 We painfully lost in a close and heartbreaking long game that lasted until the bottom of the 18th inning but last night in game 4, We won convincingly tonight by 4 runs, in 9 innings( so regular game)

If momentum was a thing in baseball, the dodgers should have won tonight again since they won a pivotal game 3 but they lost game 4

The dodgers are the oldest team in the MLB. They only have one position player in their starting lineup under the age of 30

I don’t expect them to win a long war of attrition against a motivated, energetic, resilient, fresher and younger Blue Jays team. This is the first deep playoff run for this young Blue Jays core of players. They won their First AL pennant since 1993. In comparison, This dodgers team with their core players (betts, muncy, will smith, ohtani, kike Hernandez etc) also went to multiple NLCS/WS many times in the last decade. They got damage, baggage, wear and tear from previous playoff runs. They are old, jaded and mentally/physically tired by now at this point.

I think the 18-inning game did more harm to the Dodgers than it did the Jays because of their aging and tired roster . Game 3 was a pyrrhic victory for Los Angeles. They won the battle but might lose the war at the end. This series is not over yet.

Their usual starting batting order/hitting lineup from 1 to 9 spot for the Dodgers:

Lead off hitter and Pitcher 1. Shohei Ohtani is 31

2. Shortstop Mookie Betts is 33
3. First baseman Freedie Freeman is 36
4. Catcher will smith is 30
5. Right outfielder Teoscar Hernandez is 33
6. Third baseman Max Muncy is 35
7. Second baseman Tommy Edman is 30
8. Left outfielder Enrique kike Hernandez is 34
9. Center fielder Andy pages is 25

Andy Pages, Their least impactful hitter, their #9 hitter in the batting order Andy pages is by far their youngest starting position player lol

Their Starting pitchers:
Left-handed pitcher Blake snell and right handed pitcher Tyler glasnow are both 32
Right handed pitcher Shohei ohtani is 31
Right handed pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto is 27

Their Bullpen closers/relievers:
RHP Rori Sasaki is 23
LHP Clayton Kershaw is 37
RHP Will klein is 25
LHP Anthony banda is 31
RHP Blake treinen is 37
LHP Justin wrobelski is 25
LHP Jack Dreyer is 26

As far as tonight, it’s how does Snell pitch at home. He was good until he wasn’t in Game 1 and he seems to pitch better at home. But yes, he’s a step below Yamamoto who will be in Game 6. That will be a tough one no matter going home with the series lead or going home down in the series.

For better or worse the Jays had hopped on the mistake from Ohtani for Vlad’s HR and then had their big scoring inning in the 7th. It was all that was required, it was enough to win the game but they didn’t get generate more offense than that afterwards . Hopefully that’s enough confidence though that they can do it again.

When it comes to down to Trey yesavage’s first ever playoff game on the road, so far the Jays have protected and sheltered him to this point by having him at home all playoffs and as much as possible in the regular season. He seems unflappable but this is yet another test on the biggest stage in his super short career
