I plan on making the big move to Cali within two years time, now of course since a bro is looking to do some work in the entertainment industry (trying little by little to make a little noise here in thy Chicago) my obvious Choice would be L.A. or the suburbs/surrounding area.But, to be practical, I'd probably have to try somewhere in the Bay, so maybe a Oakland, or Sacramento would fit.
Any tips for a bro, it's Cali or Washington if I head West.

I got peoples in inglewood and lemiert park. coming from the midwest, cali just doesnt have enough black folk for me. when i gotta go to specific places to see a decent amount of black faces, its a lil weird to me. I try not to kick it in hollywood, shyt is wack.

The entertainment industry is very cutthroat in the bay. Everybody tries to do as much as they can by themselves to in order to keep as much of the profits as they can. LA is better for those trying their hand in the entertainment field because there are thousands of people that are willing to break bread with you just to say they were a part of something and/or just to attach their names to some credits.
The bay is mad expensive now and you'll be surrounded by nothing but cac's and "new blacks" at this point. Oakland still can be somewhat treacherous at night but the other day I was on 92nd & Sunnyside and saw a young white lady riding her bike down the street. Most of Oakland has already been hit with the gentrification bug but I was really surprised to see an edomite in the deep parts of it already. I still love the bay for the simple fact that it is my OG stomping ground and am fortunate to have inherited a house in what is now a nice neighborhood but I really hate the direction it is going in.

With all that being said, I would imagine the bay being to closer to Chicago than Washington or LA if you're looking for a little familiarity. Richmond, El Cerrito and Oakland are all considered to be the immediate bay and still can be had for somewhat non-astronomical pricing for housing. Moving a little further out would be San Leandro, Castro Valley or Hayward. These are all a bit more on the suburban side but still all have many city elements to them. If you're more inclined to be metropolitan than somewhere on the outskirts of San Francisco would be more appropriate but be prepared to pay an arm and a leg, even people that are fairly well off by bay standards are moving to my side of the bridge due to the exorbitant cost of living in or near the city. Traffic is getting close to LA proportions on either side of the bridge from basically 7am to 7pm. Honestly, if I were you, I would seriously consider Seattle or LA over the bay. LA is fuggin hugemongous so just be prepared for it if you ever go out there.
