i had to leave the bay and come back to L.A.

the cost of living was killing me. and every year people in the bay continue to move farther and father east from sf/oak

i've said it before, and this stat is a couple of years old.. but around 2012 if you made under 75k you were considered 'low income' in santa clara county

My first year there I would make 69k. Starting at my second year it jumps to 82k.

It's true the south bay is light on blacks, but it never really bugged me growing up. Though it probably would now Sunnyvale from what I remember has a lot of Indians, the rent is pretty high. Its not really popin in terms of nightlife though there was a decent club I used to go to out there, but if you want to have fun just hit up San Jose.

Other than that I really don't have anything negative to say about the area other than fact that rent is very high. I'd visit the area first if I were you

Agree with all this. I was paying like 1700 for rent in Fremont and its even mores expensive to live in Sunnyvale/San Jose. I can't imagine how high rent is nowadays.

Nor cal is cool and all but its just not fukkin with this LA county and surrounding county life. I like the cliffs over in san fran though. Did some good climbing over there.

this is prob about what the average apartments are gona go for in sunnyvale. i cant think of 'bad' or less attractive neighborhoods where rent would be cheaper
look on craigslist tho, if u can find rent that you consider to be decent then go for it. but as far as i know, santa clara county has rape rent thru out.
and if ur sure u can get up to 82k ur 2nd year, then you'll be ok

edit - if u have no kids and no car payment. if u do, might have a problem
