NDP gonna suffer badly from voters deciding that Harper being out is worth voting for the lesser evil.

Preferable to a prospective continuing conservative government however.

i voted conservative :scust:
the evil that I know is better than the evil I don't

liberals got this though

  • Liberals win six out of seven ridings in Newfoundland, with one riding still too close to call.
  • St. John’s East in N.L. is a close race between incumbent NDP candidate Jack Harris and Liberal candidate Nick Whalen. Harris has been MP for that riding since 2008.
  • In St. John's South-Mount Pearl, Liberal candidate (and former CTV correspondent) Seamus O'Regan has defeated incumbent NDP candidate Ryan Cleary.
  • In New Brunswick, the Liberals have won seven out of ten ridings. Bernard Valcourt, who was the Aboriginal Affairs Minister, lost his seat to Liberal René Arseneault in Madawaska-Restigouche. The Liberals are leading in the other four ridings.
  • In Nova Scotia, the Liberals are have won all 11 ridings — including in Peter MacKay’s old riding of Central Nova.
  • In P.E.I. the Liberals have won all four ridings, defeating Conservative candidate Gail Shea, the former minister of Fisheries and Oceans, in her riding of Egmont

The Liberals have so far elected 29 MPs in Atlantic Canada and are leading in all of the 32 ridings. If the trend continues, the Conservatives would lose all of their 13 seats.

The losses for the Conservatives include two cabinet ministers: Conservative Fisheries and Oceans Minister Gail Shea in P.E.I. and Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Minister Bernard Valcourt in New Brunswick.

Among other significant losses include Peter MacKay's former riding in Central Nova, a riding that the former defence minister had held since 1997. Meanwhile, the NDP was poised to lose all six seats it has held.

Success there has not necessarily an indication of how the rest of the evening will go. The region has on several occasions bucked national trends.
