I enjoyed it. Was shot very well and performances were solid. I liked the lore building as well.

Omg I finally got my Candyman Funko pop figures!! They are so accurate it’s almost creepy
Movie was trash. No tension, no horror, no on screen deaths, no Candyman, no nothing. Just a complete waste of everyone's time with the exception of Tony Todd's appearance at the end.
Two straight Black Men in the movie, one is a deranged lunatic, the other an unsuccessful broke man who is leaching off his successful girlfriend
(you could have made him successful and told the exact same fukking story). This was all signed off and written by a Black Woman who clearly has a problem with non-gay black men.
I won't be watching any trash she makes in the future again

He was successful, they mention it in the movie that he has not created a good piece in two years. He was in an artistic slump, hints why he got inspired by the Candyman lore. His girl was the bread winner at the moment because she got a steady job as the museum director.

He was broke during the movie, unsuccessful during the movie and he was living off his girlfriend during the movie. Multiple characters even mentioned this during the movie. None of that was required to tell the story, yet the director specifically chose to write and make the movie that specific way when it added nothing other than to depict a non gay black man as a bum. Meanwhile The two Black Women were successful, the two gay black men were successful. Hell everyone was good but the two non gay Black men in the movie.

There is no reason why the Anthony could not have been an artist with money, successful during the movie, not living off his girlfriend, who hears about the candyman story and then becomes obsessed with it. Yet we get a broke non gay black man

The movie was solid right until the start of the 3rd act. It’s completely rushed and only served purpose to get the police scene at the very end.

Just saw this on Prime. I wasn't expecting much, which is good because I don't feel I got much. It's the quintessential popcorn flick. Just 90 minutes of so-so cinema with a couple of moments of brilliance. My skin was crawling during the last 15 minutes. Not because I was afraid but because I have trypophobia. shyt still has me itching just thinking about it. 
I felt the twist of the "true villain" was predictable and called it after a certain origin revelation. It seemed like the movie felt really rushed in the last 30 minutes, imo. It started as a slow, psychological burn and then took off out of the blue. They had more story to tell but didn't have the time to properly pace it, imo. The story itself was mostly pedestrian to me, even though it had some bright spots and I liked how they paid homage to the OG by tying it into the entire fabric of the plot. All in all, I'll likely never watch this again but it was a decent way to spend 90 minutes on a Sunday afternoon. It's not a must see by any stretch though and I'm glad I didn't spend money on it.
