i dont know yet. teo seems good but i dont want to bring a circus into MN. we have enough hardcore fans we dont need any extra bullshyt around.
i think we can find a decent wr in the 2nd.

someone enlighten me. i have done my research but i dont really watch college ball so i cant really form my own opinion

and a QB also. :cook:

Hey Go easy on our QB... He has been improving and this year really be the official year we can make the proclamation whether he is trash or not... Looking back on dudes like Matt Ryan, the Raven's QB, and even Drew Brees... Those dudes weren't all that their first two years in the league... not everyone can come in and be a star right away...

Not saying Ponder will be a star... I do think he'll get better though...

As for who we take in this Mock...

Desmond Trufant, Sylvester Williams, Arthur Brown, and Deandre Hopkins are who I have my eye on...

We have Immediate needs at MLB, DT, and WR...

I am thinking Sylvester Williams with the 23rd and Arthur Brown with the 25th...

We've been obsessed with ND players for the past few years though so we'll end up with Teo :snoop:

we need :usure:

:wow:

we need first and foremost a fukkin' qb :damn:

i know that ain't gonna happen, so...

wr, mlb, cb, g, dt

and a wholt lot of depth everywhere.

jared allen, kevin williams, brian robison, IIRC, all are on their last year of their contract.

i didnt want t say it but you did. ponder mos def showed improvement this year but i just dont like him. im sick of these young qb's mn has had who can only throw 10 yard passes accurately on a good day. i could see him working and cut off my toe if i am lying but i hope im wrong about ponder. the improvement showed this year thats for sure

on that note, good point on the expiring contracts. we shall see

Paul Allen (Vikings radio play by play guy) thinks it'll be two defensive players with in the 1st rd :shaq2:

Biggest needs: WR, CB, MLB, D-line (all four d-line starters are UFA after this yr)

I say pick the best available CB w/ the first pick, best available WR with the second pick

Anybody but T'eo :sadcam:

I'm gonna pretend that you didn't mention Ponder in the same sentence as Ryan, Flacco and Brees.

It is easy to pretend I didn't mention them, because you would then be forced to look at the NUMBERS... Erase all of their accolades and go back to their SECOND YEAR IN THE LEAGUE....

If you watched football back then, people were shytTING on Brees his first 2 years as a starter. Compare these numbers to Ponder's 2nd year numbers. Now ask yourself, in their 2nd years, did you look at Ryan/Flacco as potential "star QBs"? If you say yes, you're full of shyt... Brees was a Heisman candidate and it still took him 4 years to really develop...

Drew Brees Second year numbers
320/526 60.8 3284 YDS 17TDs/16INT 76.9 Rating (1 RUshing TD)

Matt Ryan's Second year numbers...
263/451 58.3% 2,916YDS 22TDs/14INTs 80.9 Rating (1 Rushing TD)

Joe Flacco's Second year numbers...
315/499 63.1% 3,613YDS 21TDs/12INT 88 Rating

Christian Ponder's Second year numbers...
300/483 62.1% 2,935 18TDs/12INTs 81.2 Rating (2 Rushing TD's)

At this point I am not just going to give up on Ponder after only 1 FULL year of playing... He is improving exponentially and on par with how QB's have been doing their first 2 years in the league... I mean before Cam Newton, most QB's had a learning curve... Now they expect you to come in right away and be a star so a QB like Ponder gradually improving every year is viewed as a bad thing by new age fans like yourself. I admit I was ready to give up on him, but I put things into perspective. Historically, it takes QB's some time...

i like that those numbers are similar to the other qbs, but i don't know if those numbers tell the whole story as they may be a bit misleading.

i'd like to see yards per attempt, how much of his yards came from YAC and how much he completed to WR's.

i know there are passes that he cannot make, like the deep-out and there are passes he can't make consistently like the fly route, slants and to some extent, any pass traveling over 10 yards where the receiver is not sitting in space like hooks, etc.

most of that is due to his inability to drive the ball or drive the ball on a rope beyond mid-range because of his very average arm.

he can certainly improve with his decision making and i believe he will.

i also believe ponder is taught to not make any mistakes first and foremost which makes him second guess his decisions - this is on musgrave and i don't know what ponder can do about that.

he can definitely improve his accuracy with experience and comfort in the system.

however, his reluctance to sit or step-up in the pocket is a major issue and relatively speaking, i've rarely seen him stand strong in the pocket.

of course not all is lost because he's had moments where he's made good decisions and good throws, which gives one hope.

imo, he's the type of qb that may excel in a system that is completely catered and designed for him and we can win with this type of qb, no doubt.

but for the most part, everybody else has to be on point all the time, because i don't believe he's the type of qb to carry the team on his shoulders.

this is my team, so of course i want him to succeed, but i just don't know and i sincerely hope i'm wrong for doubting him...

I agree with pretty much everything you said... If Ponder isn't putting up 23+ TDs this season with 13 or less interceptions, He and Musgrave are done...
