Yea breh, shyt realy do get funky out there. nikkas dont know FT worth use to have one da highest murder rates in the da country :lupe:

I remember hearing that about Fort Worth had one of the highest murder rates in the country along with San Antonio in the 1990s. Fort Worth was refereed to as a "cowtown" back then (and still is) and also was/is quite conservative in terms of politics.

I live in dallas & yeah I've known about ft worth or murda worth's gangs culture for years & Its no different than other places I lived or seen.

As far as their music, it's garbage. Nothing orginal about that shyt & any nikka holding a gun can kill.

The only & last great MC that came from ft worth or just the DFW in general was Twisted Black. He was next to blow & could lyrically hang with anyone in the rap game period & he wasn't a gimmick or tried to sound like any one else. That's always been the problem with DFW music, I remember back with DSR was coming up, they tried to sound like old suc members & they just put out a brand new album trying to sound like future..smh Or big chiefa trying to emulate rick ross & slim thug, it never ends with these dudes.

Oh shyt! I remember Twisted Black. Twisted Black was supposed to blow up big on TVT Records in 2006 until he got indicted on drug possession charges by the undercover federal agents (DEA) in Midland. Twisted Black was supposed to be the Snoop Dogg of Texas at the time. Everybody was fukking with him. Rappers from all regions of Texas. Even Bavu Blakes was cool with him. I still remember his music from high school. You took me back with that post.

As for Dallas music altogether, Dallas and Fort Worth music wasn't garbage until the mid 2000s with DSR coming up trying to imitate/mimck Screw music and pass it off as something else. Dallas and Fort Worth were on the gangsta rap and G-Funk tip from 1991 until 2003 or so with rappers like MC E-Rock, Six2, Twisted Black, Coop MC, T.I.C., P.I.G., Erotic D, DJ Hard, Ron C, K-Roc, Mr. Pookie, Mr. Lucci, Blo-Fly, Kottonmouth, The DOC, Ganksta C, Cappella, and so many others that I could post as I am typing this post because I don't want to make this post a "TD;LR post".

With that said, Forth Worth's got Six2. He was affiliated with Dr. Dre, The DOC, and Timbaland at one time. Heck Timbaland even signed him back in 2005 but shyt didn't pan out for whatever reason. Still, Six2 is underrated and overlooked as fukk in Texas Rap.

Forth Worth's also got T.Cash who's underrated and overlooked as fukk. (At least by the major labels in mainstream music.) Other than that, T.Cash is the hottest most promoted rapper from Fort Worth next to Go Yayo, T.I.C., and C Struggs. I swear people keep sleeping on T.Cash. I keep seeing his flyers and posters down here in Austin.

Texas Rapper Twisted Black Sentenced to Life in Prison for Drug Conspiracy - XXL
allhiphop.com/2006/11/30/rapper-twisted-black-sentenced-to-life-in-prison/

Too bad. They not going to start a movement without a unique sound. They may have a track here and there that pops off but for the entire area DFW area to be put on they need to create a new sound. The Atl did it with Trap, Houston did it with screw, Chicago did it with Drill. etc. These doing doing trap and drill just going to get lost in the sauce.

If I remember correctly, the Dallas Hip Hop/Rap scene did for a while mimic Miami Bass and called it Dallas Bass with rappers from the group Nemesis being the pioneers. You had Bhumble Bhe, DJ Snake, Ron C, Kottonmouth, Blo-Fly, Twisted Black, Bavu Blakes, Coop MC, T.I.C, DJ Hard, Big Al, MC Azim, Davina, and P.I.G. producing the sounds of Dallas Bass.

Idk about San antonio, but ft worth yea.
San antonio peaked at 220 homicides but with a million people
Ft worth peaked at 200 but only had 400,000 people at the time

I know what you mean. I was listening to these jams last night. Dallas and Fort Worth were the gang and crime capitals at on time from the 90s to the early 2000s. Don't know how it all ended tho.

DFW Metroplex
map.jpg

For starters they're like an hour apart and two different counties.
Dallas is the main city and people in Dallas are way more flamboyant and flashy.
Ft Worth people are more laid back and chill, but probably more territorial at the same time.
The suburbs are different too. Arlington, which I consider a suburb of Ft worth and NOT dallas, is like a mixture between the two. Right next to FT worth, but alot of the nikkas there are loud like Dallas nikkas, probably because alot of dallas nikkas move there.
All those suburbs on the southern side of Dallas, Duncanville, Desoto, Lancaster etc..that are is probably around 60-70% black, and is full of nice homes. But alot nikkas who wanna be hood live in them.
The northside u see, Addison, Carrolton, etc.. full of cacs and asians.
Eastside burbs like Garland, Mesquite, and balch springs are a little more run down depending on where you go. They also have higher population of Mexicans, that area is probably around 60% mexican.

This. I always HATE whenever there's a major sporting event in the Metroplex the local media uses the term "North Texas" instead of "DFW Metroplex", "The Metroplex", "Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex", or etc. to not offend Arlington. As if Arlington isn't a suburb itself.

I wanted to address this post so people don't get it confused. When most people think the suburbs they tend to think that it's an area outside of city life that's all good. In many places in this country that may be the case but it's always true in the Dallas area. The thing about Dallas is that you could be in the projects and five minutes later driving you can be around mansions. Yet you still in Dallas. So just because somebody from the city don't mean that they from the hood. The exact same thing is true for the burbs. Just because you in the burbs it don't mean that you live in a nice home, got two parents, one dog and can leave your doors unlocked. As far as the racial makeup of the areas he posted...... Most people think it's only Blacks in the hood gang banging not realizing that you got Whites in the suburbs gang banging too, same for Mexican's. I was surprised to see it for myself back in the day but the truth is the youth in general is fascinated with the gang life, not just Blacks, then and now. I mentioned something similar in a post before in another thread that's below.

Someone told me back in the day that when Colors dropped they started emulating it and it gave birth to some of the sets in the Dallas area. I was out in Mesquite (that was a suburb of Dallas and I didn't know they was bangin' out there) and they had this white cat who was a little bit older than us, a Crip and someone I knew had knew him and we was choppin' it up and we had that discussion. When we got to his crib his girl handed him their child and he had his set written on his baby son in a marker! Ish looked like a tattoo. I wasn't no square but when I saw that it kind of freaked me out.
So please don't go there thinking it's all good or making assumptions based on skin color or over some imaginary border lines. The gang culture is taken very seriously almost everywhere you go and you can get touched.
