Just watched this, I don't much of the legend Dolemite so I'm gonna be sure to look up some stuff. Loved the movie. Also was really happy to see Wesley Snipes, has breh been blackballed or something, can't remember the last movie I saw him in and don't really follow Hollywood news like that. Anyways was happy to see him here and he damn near stole the show.

According to them...they tried years ago, but Hollywood said no because Eddie some flops. Plus Rudy movie was seen over the top to them years ago. Regrouped years later and pitched it to Netflix.

I saw the original Dolemite years back after seeing it mentioned during House Party. It made me appreciate it even more seeing how they reenacted the scenes . Felt like it was a behind the scenes tied with the story of the film being made itself .

Shyt was inspirational. As a kid I thought Dolomite flicks was par for the course as far as blaxsploitation era is concerned.

I never saw Dolemite, and I knew that the character "Bullhorn" was based on Dolemite, but I was surprised at how much of Black Dynamite was based on this. I thought that Black Dynamite was mainly based on Jim Kelly. Didn't realize that stuff like Honey Bee and the "kung-fu bytches" were references to Dolemite.
I also think it's pretty funny that nobody mentions that Rudy just outright STOLE his whole act, including his name, from the bum in the record store.
