I watched this shyt and realized again why I don’t like these types of movies. Just another story of white ppl on some Christopher Columbus shyt again

Paul isn't a good guy. He's a future tyrant. The reason Herbert wrote the book was for people to always distrust charismatic leaders like Paul.

It's right in the movie when he has the vision in the tent freaking the fukk out.

All I see is a vision of a future War the main character is not looking forward to. Since you know what's in the book you can extrapolate he is talking about being a tyrant. We as the audience don't even know if his visions are true or not.

But even on screen, and this only the first portion, he doesn't come off as "white savior" because he doesn't do anything. He studies, has dreams, runs, and gets rescued by damn near everyone...Hell, for all anyone knows, he can die 5 minutes into the next movie.

Just saw this today......visually amazing but this story bored me to death with the white hero shyt done over again. All the people of color died (Duncan, Liet-Kynes, Dr. Yeh, and the black warrior at the end to finally make Zendaya believe in him being The Messiah) Yea some ol bullshyt. Long and boring.

i dont understand how spice helps space ships travel, that makes no sense to me if you have that type of technology?

i thought the visuals were cool but its the same old hollywood story

A.I. computers are outlawed due to humanity viewing it as a threat, the spice allows navigators to see through space-time to make sure the path is clear to travel.

Well the Bene Gesserit planted religious prophecies on Arakkis hundreds of years before his arrival so that they could exploit it if they needed to. That's the only reason Paul is able to exploit them

Fair enough, but I think part of the point is that he does appear that way, only for that appearance to be shattered by the reality of the second half of the book. They allude to it a tiny bit in the first movie with the visions but it’s not going to be clear for non Book readers until the second film.
