Why this sudden turn?

Their spat is over the "big beautiful bill" and it's all about power. Musk wanted a bigger say in the spending bill and demanded deeper cuts to public programs. When GOP leadership (with Trump's blessing) pushed it through without him, he started lashing out.

This isn't an ideological split. They both want austerity, tax cuts for the rich, and deregulation. Musk just wants to be the one steering the ship. Trump won't share that spotlight, so now it's a clash of egos between two pieces of shyt who still agree on gutting the public in favor of the wealthy.
