Didn't expect Punk and Mena to get packed up like that, only for the two who packed them (asian dude with Kim and Ending Walker) to get packed up unceremoniously soon after. Fuudo stay fukkin up; I just want someone to win a major tourney with DJ but everytime it's just disappointment.
One day people are gonna put Kimberly in that Makoto realm where once she has momentum, good luck winning the round. Like the entire game benefits from momentum and shyt but something about Kimberly with drive rush feels fukkin heinous

I think EndingWalker might be momentum-based too. Once he starts playing bad it doesn't seem like he can consistently bounce back. He won that first game decisively and then AngryBird just started doing well-placed wakeup DPs and not respecting him

This is all the teenagers to be honest. This is why when we first see them they steamroll through the whole tournament then after they get downloaded they regress back closer to the mean:russ:

When you're skilled and fearless momentum stacking can really yield dividends

i'm inclined to agree, but the way Blaz has been playing has just seemed extremely solid today. Patient, picking his spots, not getting burned too bad

also really shocked Leshar stuck with Terry, coulda sworn that Ed was coming out

Nothing I said indicated that Blaz ain't a solid player tho. I described a consistent theme among the teenage players that dont mean they're any less good than they obviously are

And damn a Dhalsim made top 8? :mjcry: :to:

I notice that momentum ish with Punk as well. Kinda like how a boxer can be chinny, it feels like that with some of these guys.

Have all the momentum but then get rocked with a standing 8 count, and it's like they play concussed the rest of the set; no sharpness and whiffin or grabbin/punchin air every exchange. Tho i wonder if the novelty that Punk had with Cammy is also just wearin off; whether due to other characters getting better buffs or the younger gen catchin up with his neutral play

nah really. Punk was up 2-0 quick against Xiaohai and then just started wilting
It makes sense EndingWalker 5-0'd Mena and then went 1-5 against AngryBird. both of em you can see when they start second-guessing themselves

Leshar changed chars mid-set against Blaz and got some wins, but Blaz bounced back

Xiaohai going with Bison? aw shyt

I would say Punk is actually the opposite of momentum play. Punk from at least mid Sf5 to now has just relied on footsies and allowing you to kill yourself. In this context Punk has been fighting against SF6

Punk struggled a bit in the beginning of 6 because it was Drive Rush fighter and nikkas was running 80mph slangin buttons:russ: Punk adjusted and won Evo in spite of the SF6 meta

Now at this point in the game your point about players catching up in the neutral is closer to the truth. Nikkas haven't acknowledged it yet but the game has slowed down. Players like G01, Lesharr, Moke(three Chun players funny enough:russ:) have defied the "Drive Rush fighter" rhetoric.
