Generally, avoid court if you can.
You are obligated to do the bare minimum of compliance, but you aren't obligated to answer any questions posed by any officer.
You can answer a question with a question (Socratic dialogue).
You can even say, "I answer your question with silence."
As soon as an officer impedes your free movement, you are under civil arrest.
There are two types of arrest: civil and apprehensive (criminal).
That's why it is important to ask the question, "Am I free to go?" If the answer is no, civil arrest has begun and it is squarely a 4th Amendment issue.
