I want corny tropes if it means not concluding character arcs in a way that makes sense just to be subversive.

And lets be honest here...Theon dying an honorable death last night is a trope. Bad guy being redeemed. Jamie becoming an honorable knight is a trope. Bad guy being redeemed.
these aren’t tropes. Jamie and Theon are complex characters with long stories
A trope would be bad guys staying bad and getting killed by a good guy

Cuz jamie never had a life going fued with her. The only reason they beefing is because jamie made an oath and doesnt want to break it. Jamie is alive because the writters know hes a fan favorite. At this point u have to approach the show at a different view point then what we had a few seasons ago.
Agreed, the valonqar prophecy is the only reason people are 100% sold Jamie is gonna get that kill. If we didn't have that there would be no reason to be so convinced that's his destiny, he's literally been in love with her his whole life.

Bran actor on that last staredown with Night King

Here is Issac's (the actor who plays Bran) explanation for his long stare-down with the Night King. His explanation brings a whole new meaning to the scene and, when I re-watched that moment, I actually got goosebumps...

"What we tried to do with that moment, where The Night King arrives and stares at Bran and Bran stares at him, and this wasn't in the script, this was me and [director] Miguel [Sapochnik] coming up with this idea of Bran feeling sorry for him. Bran is looking at him and thinking, "I'm so sorry that they did this to you", because Bran was there and saw the creation of The Night King. He saw that shard of dragonglass pushed through this guy's heart. He was strapped to a tree. He didn't want to become this evil ice zombie. So yeah, what we thought was just a really beautiful moment where Bran is feeling sorry for this, this monster that's got out of control. He just can't stop killing."

It's just such an epic moment because these are two of the ancient beings of Westeros, The Night King and the Three-Eyed Raven. There have been many Three-Eyed Ravens. You know, the last Three-Eyed Raven was killed by the Night King, and that's all he wants to do. He wants to end the history, wants to destroy all memory of mankind, and civilization."

Bran & The Knight King stare scene:

Edit: Source: EXCLUSIVE: Isaac Hempstead Wright spills on THAT major Game of Thrones moment

Why do I keep seeing this? Joffrey murdered Ned, not Cersei. Arya blames The Hound for killing the butchers boy, not Cersei. Am I forgetting some connection?

Of course, it is completely illogical for Arya to not singlehandedly sneak into the Red Keep wearing a face and kill Cersei, but that aint happening obviously otherwise the next episode only needs to be 10 minutes long.

Well she's the last person on her list that she actually has beef with. I'm not counting the Mountain for other reasons. I would have traded her killing the Night King for a Cersei killing.

She doesn't need to have killed her in the next episode. It could be after Cersei's army is defeated and it appears that she found a way slither away in escape only for Arya to be waiting for her somehow.

I understand that reasoning, I can also see an angle where Jamie switches at the last minute if he's forced to choose Cersei or Daeny/Jon.

It took a war involving the dead for Jamie to finally for the first time in his life "betray" Cersei. That war is over and she's still carrying his seed. Cersei's gonna have to force his hand to kill her.

when Tyrion was locked up for Joffreys murder? I don't really view that as betraying her, everyone knows he rides for his brother almost as hard as he does Cersei, and that was before Tywins death when that relationship became strained. If you're referencing their 1st meeting after Tywin's death Bronn fooled him into going there, and he was reluctant until Tyrion told him what was at stake.

Walking out on her to fight the dead was the first time in his life he truly "turned his back on her" from my perspective.
