buth theyvet been building up the political side for 7 seasons......the night king and white walkers/wights was always a secondary plot to the game for the throne

Honestly breh, I was thinking of doing one, but I haven't done a review for the seemingly most epic episode of each season of Thrones since The Red Wedding. Best part of this thread is the brehs talking about it, not necessarily one dude's funny review and this episode obviously provided a ton of content to talk about. I didn't want to distract from all the talking points

I feel like Arya dies before the very end.
Sansa takes the throne. She's always wanted to be queen since the first ep. Tyrion becomes her hand. She marries Gendry.
Cersei, Varys, Jamie, Euron, Danni, the Mountain, all die. House Lannister and House Greyjoy get wiped out. Except Tyrion
Everyone else gets absorbed into Sansas new empire.
Baeworm and his girl and army leave and go back South.
The remaining Golden Company leaves and goes back home.
John doesn't want the throne after Danny dies. Goes back to run Winterfell with the one surviving Dragon.
Someone pushes Brans annoying azz off a cliff right before he wargs into some animal.

To you. But a lot of people, including myself, are fans of Jon/Arya/Bran whose entire story lines are intertwined with mysticism. I really don't care about the Iron Throne and wasn't a fan of any of the King's Landing stuff. I did enjoy Tywin's entire story because he's an interesting character.

This show is also NOT supposed to be about the White Walkers
This show is supposed to be about the journey of the characters and how they have transformed and evolved and the emotional and physical sacrifices they make along the way.
Having the White Walkers die the way they did was not disappointing because they weren't the final bosses, it was disappointing because it retroactively made certain character arcs weak and also emphasized that the showrunners cared more about spectacle and shock over good storytelling.
Ned and Robb dying were not shock value choices. They were plot points used to evolve the true main characters in the series. That type of storytelling ended after Jon got a knife into the heart.
Upon reflection, the way they handled Shireen's burning was also unforgiveable. That burning is a GRRM decision, but not the rushed way it all happened and Stannis got snuffed out

Jon's entire story since season 1 was fighting the White Walkers and others. Bran's entire story since season 1 was understanding his dreams and meeting the Three Eyed Raven. Arya's entire story since season 2 was becoming a faceless man and getting revenge. None of their stories involved the Iron Throne and all three are arguably the most important characters.
