He was anti-Iraq invasion a couple of decades ago and then earned good will off the Snowden leaks. It was a slow fade from there stateside, but he did do some good work busting the Operation Car Wash mess in Brazil. His grift accelerated after that. Dude really made his name off the backs of whistle-blowers that suffered the majority of consequences and once he lost his leaks just moved on to Tucker Carlson appearances.
