ggg L straight got hbo the fukk outta here :wow:

more like HBO taking the L for not getting those "numbers" for this last Canelo GGG bout :francis:

The most widely watched live bout on HBO of 2018, a middleweight title fight between Gennady Golovkin and Vanes Martirosyan, drew 1.3 million viewers.
HBO Says It Is Leaving the Boxing Business

but HBO president did leave open the possibility of boxing returning to HBO if they can find that "destination event" like the classic big fights of the past i.e tyson ...paq...mayweather etc.

Nelson left the door open for a possible return to the ring one day after the network’s final scheduled bout next month: a middleweight fight between Daniel Jacobs and Sergiy Derevyanchenko. A heavyweight showdown between Joshua and Deontay Wilder, for example, might tempt HBO, he acknowledged, if only for one night.

“I’m still a fan of boxing,” Nelson said. “If there is a destination event, absolutely, we’re in that conversation.”

Time to cancel my HBO subscription .:blessed: .

Literally the only reason I had the channel is for boxing.

Im not a fan of the commentor except Roy Jones but this is bad for boxing . HBO was like THE PLACE for boxing followed by showtime. Much respect to Haymon for his deals with other networks but having boxing on 10 different channels without those one or two centralized places for the big fights will hurt boxing in the long run. Having to plan my schedule to watch a 10 pm fight on a Tuesday on Fox Sports 1 is a pain in the ass .

Nah this is a good thing, trust.

HBO has basically been dead wood for the last 3-4 years, and declining rapidly each year. They had no plan, no direction, it was just random nonsense.

What this does is add more depth to the current networks and there is now more competition and incentive to show bigger fights. This moves lesser fights and fighters DOWN to the fringe times and platforms.

It's simply one step closer to a single top entity (something like the UFC), which will hopefully equate to better structure, marketing and eventually more growth.

If PBC, GBP, ESPN and DAZN can work together...who knows, maybe there will be better cross promotion.

All I know is 4 chefs are better than 5 in a kitchen.

Arum told BoxingScene.com on Thursday that his promotional company’s president, Todd duBoef, has reached out to Tom Loeffler, Golovkin’s promoter, about airing Golovkin’s fights on ESPN or ESPN Pay-Per-View. Top Rank has an exclusive content contract with ESPN and any promoter that wants bouts broadcast on ESPN must work with Top Rank in accordance with that agreement.

This old b*stard is a genius:heh:.....he seen the HBO collapse coming a mile away. Now nobody can come to ESPN if they don't go through him first :deadmanny:.......dude finessed the fukk out of everybody including ESPN:mjlol:......this evil fat fukk still the best promoter in the game. Smh

:mjlol:@ this logic thinking Haymon brought down HBO
HBO basically quit because they spending their resources elsewhere. They are not broke, far from it and if they wanted to they could have put up a fight to keep at least Arum's stable or even more. But they felt like only shows and movies is the way to go from now and no boxing included in their future. We've seen them slowly but steadily pulling out of boxing for years now.

They cut out Haymon because they felt Haymon overpaid his fighters they didn't want to give him the budget then they cut their ties with Arum too years later also because of differences about budget ideas and number of fight dates. When they broke off TR too it was only a matter of time when they finally quit. I wasn't even shocked.

It's strange to me though that many ppl seem to be dancing on their grave... granted their quality dropped in recent years but for a long time they were the best boxing provider on the market and showed many legendary fights throughout 45 years. Definitely an official end of an era even though the new era started in the recent years already this is like a symbolic closing of the last one.
