Terrace Martin said the album changed after they did Colbert and he couldn't get Black Messiah out of his head and it just "clicked" after that album.
no Black Messiah (and Makaveli) then TPAB isn't the album we have now.
i wouldn't be surprised if TPAB has probably replaced Black Messiah in the main album category.
its more palatable and has a more visible face with songs that had a bigger reach.
I read the article (Terrace Martin drops some gems) and he does say that musically they used Black Messiah as an influence during some of the later sessions. But he never makes the correlation that it was a heavy influence, terrace wanted to pay homage in certain aspects as a musician.
Either way their both great albums, but Kendrick's achievement as a lyricist, visionary, and artist pays homage to everyone from Sly Stone To Nelsen Mandela. The album was simultaneously an ode to the history of Black Music and an embracement of language. And for pulling that off Kemdrick owes thanks to NOBODY
Tvguide.com has Kendrick pegged to sweep the Rap Categories and calls it a tough call between him and Swift for AOTY

But seriously, if it happens, the Grammys are still garbage mainly because they have no direction. It means nothing to me. No one is that invested in the grammys. Their ratings were down 6% last year. Don't watch it and them maybe they will feel the need to switch it up. The fact that it's Kendrick vs. Taylor is enough reason to let you know this award show is stupid. One album is critically acclaimed and one album is about her career trajectory. That has nothing to do with the actual music.
Because it doesn't change how trash of an awards show and process the Grammys is
