This is why you fire Ballard and Steichen last year. You don't want bums desperate to save their own jobs pulling the strings. They won't even let us tank, desperate to show a 8 win max season and claim progress.

Would've been better to give another head coach a chance with AR, and even if he said nah, we could've started the rebuild.

Now we gotta waste a whole year while learning absolutely nothing.

First year with "new" owners who promised more accountability is the only silver lining.

This is what I posted before the saeason started.
Although I felt a bit dumb as Indy ran to 8-2...I was spot on.
I do think they win more than 8 with a healthy DJ, but also believe if you're success is banking on him staying healthy AND continuing to perform

Some thoughts:

  • Trading away the two firsts was complete trash, I don't care if Sauce becomes an All Pro, he's not the missing piece.
  • Steichen I question him as a leader and HC, but you can't deny he's a good OC. Still not sold you want him leading the org.
  • Ballard. I've wanted this man fired for years. Expect more fukkey and desperation moves as his contract expires after next season.
  • AR, the more I hear, the more it sounds like he got injured misusing the equipment. Regardless, he wasted another big redemption opportunity.
  • Can't be excited going into next season banking on AR, DJ's recovery and Leonard.
  • I'd love it if they find a way to get rid of MPJ.

I feel I can basically check out until end of next year at this point. Tough to be excited with no 1st round pick. I don't see any FA moves that push Indy over the edge.

Anyone see the press conference Reddit is losing their mind over?
Not losing my mind over it, more-so just apathetic to everything. No reason to give a franchise who repeatedly makes excuses year after year the time of day and my time is valuable.

After watching everything play out and doing some reading, I think the Colts are just a broke boy organization:

Irsays are rich off football, they're one of the poorest owners/ownership groups in the league.
Irsay's death creates all kinds of issues/expenses when it comes to estate tax.
Colts usually get mid ratings on NFLPA surveys around player experience.
Tendency to hold onto GMs/coaches way too long.

I don't think they're at risk of losing the team, but "broke" relative to other owners. I don't think more money necessarily would fix things + there's a cap anyway, but I do think it ties into this unserious about winning culture.
