Why does he have to be on someones payroll?

You don't get to "interview" Vladimir Putin, cast him in an amazing light, and then help Trump get into the White House for free. Then when Trump sours on Ukraine, suddenly you are tearing through Ted Cruz, questioning about the Epstein files and interviewing the Iranian president.
Not even saying it like it's a bad thing. He getting his bag. But I don't see him as a quality journalist, more of a opportunist.

My personal take anyway.
