Trump, Netanyahu want a ‘controllable and not free Iran’

Iran could “easily become the hegemonic power in the region in a matter of a few years”, Professor Lorenzo Kamel, an assistant professor of global history and history in the Middle East and North Africa at the University of Turin, tells Al Jazeera.

Iran has the second-largest oil reserves in the world, the third-largest gas reserves, and approximately 90 million inhabitants, which creates a very strong internal market he said.

The potential of its oil and gas industry means that Trump and Netanyahu want a “controllable Iran, and not a free Iran”, Kamel explained.

This is not the first time the US had acted to control oil production, he noted, including the events of 1953, when the CIA, along with the UK’s MI6, orchestrated the overthrow of Iran’s democratically elected Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadegh, who had moved to nationalise Iran’s oil industry from the British-owned Anglo-Iranian Oil Company.

Cyprus arrests UK man over suspected terror plot, Israel says Iran responsible

Police in Cyprus say they have arrested a UK man on suspicion of terror-related offences and espionage, with Israel saying it had thwarted Iran to attack Israelis on the island.
A court in Cyprus ordered that the man, who wasn’t identified, be detained for eight days pending further investigations, news agencies reported.
Police would not comment further on the man’s arrest for national security reasons.
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said in a post on X that a plot by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards to attack Israelis in Cyprus had been foiled, “thanks to the activity of the Cypriot security authorities, in cooperation with Israeli security services”.
Britain’s Foreign Office confirmed that UK officials were in contact with Cyprus “regarding the arrest of a British man”.

For yrs they made it seem like Iran had sleeper cells and everything else. They ain got shyt but some missiles.

It's all air to air and long range attacks at the moment.

When it becomes a ground war is when you'll have militia popping out of the side of cliffs like in Afghanistan with an RPG.

Lotta people gonna die for what :snoop:

Iran should surrender. No need in prolonging the bombing campaigns when all they can do is launch a bunch of missiles hoping one gets through.
Their foreign minister even has to seek permission from Israel before flying out of the country because they have no control over their airspace.

You have a source besides a German news outlet that copies what the IDF tells them too?

Iran will consider weapon shipments to Israel "legitimate targets," military spokesperson warns

From Aida Karimi and CNN’s Sana Noor Haq
An Iranian military spokesperson warned that arms exports to Israel will be deemed “legitimate targets” by Tehran, as the two countries continue trading strikes Saturday.

Military or radar equipment sent to Israel “will be considered as aiding aggression” against Iran, the spokesperson for the engineering wing of Iran’s armed forces said in a Telegram video.

He claimed Israel had suffered significant radar and air defense losses in recent days, adding that the Israeli military is grappling with ammunition and equipment shortages. CNN cannot independently verify the claims.

“Any transfer of military or radar equipment by ship or aircraft to assist the Zionist regime will be regarded as direct involvement in the aggression and treated accordingly by our armed forces,” the spokesperson added.

Some context: Israel launched its military campaign against Iran on June 13, triggering retaliatory strikes from Tehran.

An initial diplomatic push between European foreign ministers and their Iranian counterpart proved futile on Friday. Tehran said it would not start discussions with the US, Israel’s top arms supplier, so long as Israel’s bombing campaign persists.
