Senior Iranian and Israeli officials have responded to the latest wave of deadly strikes on their respective countries.
Israel: After a night of bruising Iranian missiles strikes, some of which hit residential buildings, Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz voiced his anger.
“The arrogant dictator of Tehran has become a cowardly murderer,” he wrote on X. “The residents of Tehran will pay the price, and soon.”
Iran: President Masoud Pezeshkian called for unity and defended his country’s nuclear program.
“The people of Iran must join hands and stand strong against the aggression that has been launched against us,” Pezeshkian said, saying Iran were “not the aggressors.”
“We have every right to benefit from nuclear energy and to pursue research aimed at better serving the interests and meeting the objectives of our society,” Pezeshkian said in a statement released through Iran’s state media.
