Israel "controls the skies over Tehran," Netanyahu says

From CNN’s Eugenia Yosef and Nadeen Ebrahim
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that Israel’s Air Force “controls the skies over Tehran.”

“The Israeli Air Force controls the skies over Tehran. We are striking regime targets — unlike Iran’s criminal regime, which targets civilians,” Netanyahu said, speaking at the Tel Nof Airbase on Monday.

“We say to the citizens of Tehran: ‘Evacuate’ – and we act,” he added.

What would an Israel-Iran war mean for the global economy?

As Israel and Iran exchange deadly salvoes for a fourth day, there are growing concerns that the conflict will spread across one of the world’s key oil- and gas-producing regions.
Equity markets were initially roiled after Israel’s surprise attack on Friday, but have since stabilised.
Analysts are watching oil prices, and investors are turning to safe havens like gold, as a full-blown war could make things even worse, experts warn.

"It's been very intense": Iranians abroad fear for their families

From CNN’s Antoinette Radford

As missiles fall on his hometown of Kermanshah in Iran, one exile can only watch on from thousands of miles away, terrified for the lives of his parents and siblings.

“I am really worried about my family especially since (the last) 48 hours. It’s been very intense,” the man told CNN Monday. He is Kurdish, fled persecution in Iran in 2013 and has asked not to be named or his location revealed for his family’s safety.

Many members of the worldwide Iranian diaspora still have relatives in the country and are fearful for their wellbeing as the conflict between Iran and Israel escalates.

“What I feel is that innocent people are going to be killed in Israel and in Iran,” the man said.

“They have bombed lots of places in Iran, including my city Kermanshah. And my family, my parents and my brothers and my sister, they live close together,” he told CNN, adding that a strike recently landed five kilometers (around three miles) from where his family lives.

He also said that if “one of the people who are working for the government is a target by the Israeli government and the person (goes close to)… my family’s place, it means that with one bomb they (could) kill all my family. Because they are going to kill one person, they kill all my family.”

“I condemn the Iranian government for many reasons but they (Israel) shouldn’t kill innocent people in Iran,” the man said.

This arc in the middle east conflict is just gonna bring more destruction and damage to the world.

I dead ass wish you could just put world leaders in a boxing right and make them slug it out instead of getting regular everyday people involved.

This would never happen in the real world tho

Iran ‘never willing’ to accept US’s ‘maximalist’ nuclear proposal

Barbara Slavin, a distinguished fellow at the Stimson Center in Washington, DC, says the proposal put forward by the US during the nuclear negotiations with Iran was always going to be rejected by the Iranian side.

“The problem is that Trump has allowed himself to be so influenced by the Israelis that the demands the United States put forward for Iran, the proposal that was put forward, was maximalist: No enrichment of uranium whatsoever on Iranian soil,” she told Al Jazeera.

“And if there’s anything we’ve learned from more than a decade of watching nuclear negotiations with the United States is that the country insists on retaining an indigenous uranium enrichment programme,” said Slavin, who is also a lecturer in international affairs at George Washington University.
“So this was a proposal the Iranians were never willing to accept.”

Slavin added that Trump has seemingly accepted “Netanyahu’s logic that somehow these military strikes would convince Iran to come back to the table and accept what they had not accepted before.
“That hasn’t happened so far. We will see.”

Hospital in Iran’s Kermanshah damaged after Israeli strike on city, state media says

From CNN’s Mostafa Salem, Gianluca Mezzofiore and Eugenia Yosef
A hospital in Iran’s western city of Kermanshah was damaged when Israel struck the region on Monday, Iranian state media reported.

CNN has verified the location of one of several videos published by state-affiliated media showing damage to the Farabi hospital.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei accused Israel of targeting the hospital. The Israel Defense Forces told CNN that it is “not aware of any attack that happened on a hospital in Iran.”

Footage published by Fars News Agency showed a collapsed ceiling in a section of the hospital where beds were located. State affiliated-Tasnim News Agency said the facility’s intensive care unit (ICU) was the most heavily damaged part of the hospital. Patients in (ICU) wards were injured by broken glass and the ceiling collapse, Tasnim news agency said.

Trump says US ‘had nothing to do’ with attack on Iran

But the American president has warned that if the US is “attacked in any way, shape or form by Iran, the full strength and might of the US Armed Forces will come down on you at levels never seen before”.
“However, we can easily get a deal done between Iran and Israel, and end this bloody conflict!!!” he wrote in a post on Truth Social.
A deal muthafukka please. Al this deal talk :camby:

Markets are surging, people are numb to conflict at this point with all the ridiculous news the last 3 years starting with Ukraine vs Russia then the Oct. 7 attacks with the follow-up genocide.

This was as much a deal as India vs Pakistan globally. Tel Aviv got lit up, Iran going for a nuke and people don’t even care anymore.

Like said, it’ll matter if they shut off the trade route, but with the worldwide move to electrical, solar and batteries this isn’t the 2000’s anymore. Despite this whole “coal and oil” bs, Elon still said solar is the future, Trump still wants TSM to build a plant in Arizona, etc. The Middle East don’t have the chips (no pun intended) they once had.

I wondering if it surging due to the report that Iran is willing to talk to America again.
