Attacking Iran allows Israel to deflect attention away from Gaza

Reporting from Amman, Jordan
Al Jazeera is reporting from Amman, Jordan, because it has been banned in Israel and the occupied West Bank.
Israel has attacked energy infrastructure: the gas production field, the port in Bandar Abbas … Israel, it seems, has changed the focus of its attacks from degrading Iran’s nuclear capabilities to attacking infrastructure.
You heard Netanyahu earlier calling effectively for regime change, saying he was encouraging Iranians to rise up against the regime.
Israel says the focus of its military activities is now on Iran and not on Gaza. But it also conveniently allows … the focus of attention on what’s happening in Israel to move from Gaza to Iran. Until Israel hit those targets in Iran, it was coming under increasing international scrutiny over the conduct of the war in Gaza.
A lot more vocal criticism was coming from European leaders, coming from Canada, and sanctions were imposed on senior Israeli politicians. This allows Israel to move the focus away from Gaza.

Starmer and Saudi crown prince discuss crisis

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has spoken with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, in the latest efforts by world leaders to align on a response to the crisis.
The prime minister’s office said in a statement that the two leaders had discussed the “gravely concerning situation in the Middle East” and agreed on the need to de-escalate.
The UK is poised to work closely with its allies in the coming days to find a diplomatic resolution, the statement said.

Gaza as a theater of war (if you wanna call that a war) is totally depleted and the Zionists need to ramp up support from those common boogeyman talking points and making Iran an active combatant against the so called state of Israel. Helps kill the growing dissent against the Zionists for their genocide in Gaza while providing additional support from the West for one of their most important political objectives.

Now this would be wild and definitely increase the chances of this becoming a regional conflict. I’m really curious to know if other nations might actually stand with Iran as they’re the only sovereign nation that’s stood up to Israel since Oct 7th. Perhaps Türkiye also? Pakistan and Türkiye joining the Iranians would be major. Would also be a huge gamble on their parts. At minimum, maybe they could put pressure on the Jordanians to stop interfering in Iran’s lawful response to being attacked.

We might be getting ready to witness the formal birth of a new multipolar world.
So crazy. Isnt Pakistan an American ally? This is just such a tangled web

Invasion won't work. Iran territory is well enclaved by mountains. Whoever send troops will expect massive casualties on some D-Day WW2 shyt. This is why they never attacked Iran even though they wanted too since 2001.

You're not wrong, but it's a moot point. I mean you're following the news right? Iran got long range precision strike capability with serious firepower. Try bringing an invading force within their missile strike range and see what happens.

Here’s what happened today

This live page will close soon. Here’s a recap of today’s major events:
  • Iran launched a new wave of missiles at Israel, saying that it targeted fighter jet fuel production facilities and energy supply centers in Israel, killing at least three people.
  • Israel attacked Iranian targets throughout the day, targeting energy infrastructure, including an oil storage facility in Tehran, igniting a huge fire.
  • US President Donald Trump says he and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin agree that the hostilities between Israel and Iran must end.
  • Previously scheduled nuclear talks between the US and Iran that had been set to take place in Oman on Sunday were officially cancelled.
  • Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu renewed his threats to Iran, saying that Israel will “hit every site and every target” of the Iranian government.

Israel kills at least 79 people in Gaza, many at US-backed aid site: Medics

There has been no immediate comment by the Israeli military or the GHF on Saturday’s Palestinian deaths.

New Gaza Massacre: Dozens Killed Near Aid Centers
Published On 14 Jun 202514 Jun 2025

Israeli fire and air strikes have killed at least 79 Palestinians across the Gaza Strip, a number of them near an aid distribution site operated by the United States and Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), according to local health authorities, the latest deaths of people desperately seeking food for their hungry families.

Medics at al-Awda and Al-Aqsa hospitals in central Gaza, where most of the casualties were moved to, said at least 15 people were killed on Saturday as they tried to approach the GHF aid distribution site near the so-called Netzarim Corridor.

The rest were killed in separate attacks across the besieged and bombarded enclave, they added. Since the GHF started operations last month, at least 274 people have been killed and more than 2,000 wounded near aid distribution sites, according to a statement by the Gaza Ministry of Health.

The GHF said they were closed on Saturday. But witnesses said thousands of people had gathered near the sites anyway, desperate for food as Israel’s punishing 15-week blockade and military campaign have driven the territory to the brink of famine.

‘Execution sites’

Al Jazeera’s Tareq Abu Azzoum, reporting from Deir el-Balah, said Palestinians are starting to see GHF distribution hubs as “execution sites,” considering the repeated attacks there. But people in Gaza “have run out of options, and they are forced to travel to these dangerous humanitarian spaces to get aid”.

Israel imposed a full humanitarian blockade on Gaza on March 2 for 11 weeks, cutting off food, medical supplies and other aid.

It began allowing small amounts of aid into the enclave in late May following international pressure, but humanitarian organisations say it is only a tiny fraction of the aid that is needed.

There has been no immediate comment by the Israeli military or the GHF on Saturday’s incidents.

The GHF – a United States and Israel-backed organisation led by Johnnie Moore, an evangelical Christian who advised US President Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign – began distributing food packages in Gaza on May 27, overseeing a new model of aid distribution which the United Nations says is neither impartial nor neutral.

Israel and the United States say the new system is intended to replace the UN-run network. They have accused Hamas, without providing evidence, of siphoning off the UN-provided aid and reselling it to fund its military activities.
