Iran gave Qatar advance notice of missile launches toward US base, source says

From Zachary Cohen and Haley Britzky
Iranian officials gave Qatar advance notice of an attack before launching missiles toward a US military base in the country, according to a source familiar with the matter.

The coordination was intended to minimize casualties and preserve an off-ramp, the source said.

A US official told CNN they are not aware of any US injuries or deaths in the reported attack on Al Udeid Air Base. Qatar’s Defense Ministry said Monday that its air defenses intercepted an Iranian missile attack on the air base.

Main US base in northeast Syria on full alert

The main remaining base in northeast Syria hosting US troops is on full alert and mobilised for possible attacks by Iran or Iran-aligned groups, a Syrian security source has said.
The base is known as Qasrak and is one of two bases in the northeast Hasakah province where US troops are based.

The Ummah!
The US and Iran both have been WWE status these last few days. When the US moved the ships from bharain you knew a strike on Iran was coming. Once the strike was unsuccessful. You knew an unsuccessful strike on a gulf US base was coming. Now trump is going to try to garner public support to sacrifice Americans for Israel. The American public needs to back this clown down.

I was listening to this idiot rep from Texas randy Webber. A caller asked if being allies with Israel is a liability to the usa and Americans and this idiot just said no. No explanation or anything :laff:

@JT-Money I posted this back in December after Trump was declared winner and that red wave took over all of the government. I didn't think republicans would go this hard though to be honest.

I would 5000% take a contract offer for middle east work. Be in Israel on some

"We must protect our greatest and most vulnerable allies the Israeli people, Iran started this war but with the love of God and America we can pull through this anti-semitic hatred to one day establish peace in the middle east."

I might look to get back into Federal contracting if the US job market continues to crater. Every few years I would interview for a cleared job but the salary sucked. And I would have to turn down the position.

PS: Republicans only care about the budget when there not in power. Otherwise they spend just as much if not more than Democrats.

Iran’s Security Council says attack not against ‘brotherly’ Qatar

The Iranian Supreme National Security Council says that the missile strike against the Al Udeid Air Base was away from residential areas in Qatar.
“This action does not pose any threat to the friendly and brotherly country, Qatar, and its noble people, and the Islamic Republic of Iran remains committed to maintaining and continuing warm and historic relations with Qatar,” the council said in a statement.
Qatar condemned the attack as a blatant violation of its sovereignty.
This is a wise move, they really can't afford to deal with the problems that could conceivably come from that strike. You never want to have to fight a war on multiple fronts.

This also gives Qatar a diplomatic out where they can maintain face without having to respond.

Iranian attack on US base in Qatar ‘clearly a message to US’

Reporting from Doha, Qatar
People here have never experienced this kind of environment, so it was certainly a very dramatic experience.
I also have had a lot of messages from people around the world, wondering what happened here and how this country could even be targeted.
But it’s important to understand that this was not intended to harm the civilian population, but it was clearly message to the US government and military that Iran has the capability to launch direct attacks on US military personnel in the Middle East.
It really is up to the United States mow this conflict moves forward whether or not we are going to see a trajectory of war engulfing this regionor whether they will choose this as an opportunity to see it as off-ramp to deescalate the situation.

Israeli military says it struck western and central Iran

The Israeli army says around 15 fighter jets carried out a wave of air strikes on western Iran, targeting underground military infrastructure, a missile storage site and a drone storage facility it claimed belonged to Iranian forces.
The strikes were part of a broader operation, it said.
Earlier, Israeli forces also struck targets in central Iran, destroying missile launchers that the army claimed were prepared for firing toward Israel.

UK Armed Forces Minister Luke Pollard is giving a statement in the Commons about protecting UK military bases, and started speaking just minutes after the news from Qatar broke.

"This is a fast-changing situation and we are monitoring it closely," he tells MPs.

He says he can't give details at this stage - but adds "the UK government utterly condemns any escalation".

"We have put force protection measures at its highest level to safeguard our personnel in the region," he says, continuing: "We have robust measures in place to protect our armed forces personnel and their safety is our top priority."

What you need to know about the Al Udeid base in Qatar
published at 17:52
17:52

Al Udeid, located near Qatar's capital Doha, serves as the headquarters for US Central Command’s air operations in the Middle East and hosts nearly 8,000 US troops.
British forces also rotate through the base, sometimes referred to as Abu Nakhla Airport.
The facility currently serves as the headquarters and logistics base for US operations in Iraq and also includes the longest air landing strip in the Gulf region.
Qatar gave the United States access to the Al Udeid base in 2000. After the Americans took over as base managers in 2001, Doha and Washington inked an agreement in December 2002 that officially recognised the US military’s presence at Al Udeid facility, according to London-based intelligence firm Grey Dynamics.
In 2024, CNN reported that the US reached an agreement to extend its military presence in Qatar for another 10 years.

Trump administration was anticipating retaliation from Iran, White House official says

From CNN’s Alayna Treene
The Trump administration was anticipating Tehran would retaliate after US strikes on Iranian nuclear sites over the weekend, and the president does not want more military engagement in the region, a senior White House official told CNN today.

“We knew they’d retaliate. They had a similar response after Soleimani,” the official said, referring to Qasem Soleimani, the Iranian commander killed in a US airstrike in 2020.

The official said initial assessments were that the missiles fired by the Iranians on Monday didn’t hit their intended targets. Qatar’s Defense Ministry said its air defenses intercepted an Iranian missile attack on the US air base in the country.

President Donald Trump is willing to escalate US military involvement if necessary, the official said. Trump was due to talk to national security officials Monday afternoon, and it is possible his posture could change.
