Do you think Trump will join at this point?
i did at first, but then he dropped his classic "two weeks" p*ssying out, meaning he pretty much hopes it's over before then

he wants to look tough by dropping bombs, but i think he sees enough of his base giving him the :camby: over starting another war, where he's kinda shook. and there's far too much uncertainty for him to get involved without knowing he walks away with a win. if he gets involved, and iran shuts down the strait, and he's forced to deploy troops for israel; he looks BAD

Yes most of the crises he goes through is manufactured by him, this one is different, he actually has to make a decision with an uncertain outcome.

No matter what he says he’s going to piss off a segment of his base. The evangelicals, Neo-Cons, pro Israel lobby want him to take out Iran and they have more institutional influence in the Republican Party. The MAGA peasants won’t like the decision to bomb Iran but I don’t think he truly values their opinion since he won’t have to worry about an election again

he obviously doesn't care about the republicans, but he's gonna hate going out a loser

look at the perception of biden. he crashed out, oversaw a trump win, and went out a total loser, respected by no one :dead:

He’s going to look like a coward if Israel continues to get leveled, lose lose situation for the orange fukk.

If things continue to deteriorate I wouldn’t be surprised if he fakes a health scare :yeshrug:

Iran launches new wave of missiles toward Israel, IDF says

From CNN’s Eugenia Yosef and Todd Symons
The Israeli military said Friday it had detected new missiles launched toward its territory from Iran.

“Sirens sounded in several areas across Israel following the identification of missiles launched from Iran toward the State of Israel,” the Israel Defense Forces said.

“Defensive systems are operating to intercept the threat,” the IDF said.

The military did not say how many missiles were launched or if any reports of damage. It urged the public to seek shelter until further notice.

Which leaders are set to take part in Geneva talks?

As we’ve been reporting, Iran is holding discussions with European leaders in the Swiss city later today to try to reach a solution to end the conflict with Israel.
Here’s a quick look at who’s expected to take part:
  • Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi
  • British Foreign Secretary David Lammy
  • French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot
  • German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul
  • European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas
European leaders have been calling for de-escalation amid concerns the US could launch attacks on Iran alongside Israel.
France, Germany, Britain and the EU were all signatories of the 2015 Iran nuclear agreement, which saw Tehran curtail its nuclear programme in exchange for a lifting of global sanctions.
Trump unilaterally withdrew from the pact in 2018 during his first term in office.

De-escalation hopes as Iran FM heads to Geneva talks but ‘reality on ground’ is more strikes

Al Jazeera’s Tohid Asadi, reporting from Tehran, said attacks continued across Iran on Thursday – the seventh day of the conflict – and late into the night with the sound of air defences operating in the capital city.

Officials in Tehran have also escalated their rhetoric in step with the escalating military action.

“We’ve heard a lot of statements from the Iranian side saying that they are going to continue retaliations as long as Israeli strikes continue,” Asadi said.

While Iran’s foreign minister is travelling to Geneva to meet with European counterparts in the hope of de-escalating the situation, Asadi said Iranians are ready to “step back” but that would only be possible if the “Israelis step back”.

“The reality on the ground seems to be far from that as we see the continuation of Israeli strikes,” he said.

“We are hearing strong messages sent by different Iranian military officials saying that they are going to continue to provide Israelis with the repercussions of these strikes, and there is going to be a crushing answer down the road,” he added.

China’s Xi tells Putin that Beijing, Moscow should push for a ceasefire

During a call this week, Chinese President Xi Jinping told Russian President Vladimir Putin that their most “urgent task” is to push for a ceasefire between Iran and Israel.
Xi said the “parties to the conflict, especially Israel, should cease hostilities as soon as possible to prevent the situation from spiralling further and to avoid the spread of war”, according to a Chinese readout of the call.
“Major countries with special influence on the parties to the conflict” – a possible reference to the US – should work to stop the conflict and not extend it, Xi said, and only “dialogue and negotiations” will end the fighting.
Notably absent from Xi’s talking points were any remarks on who was at fault for instigating the conflict.
Beijing was more explicit during a call between chief diplomat Wang Yi and the foreign minister of Oman this week, where Israel’s attack on Iran was described as a violation of “international law and norms” and a threat to Iran’s sovereignty.

US Jewish group calls on Trump to stop arming Israel

Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP), a US-based advocacy group, has called for “an immediate halt” to Israel’s attacks on Iran, which the group said threatened a “full blown regional war”.

“Decades of internationally-backed impunity for the Israeli government’s war crimes against Palestinians and unconditional military funding from the US have brought us to this point,” the group said in a statement shared on social media.

The US provides Israel with at least $3.8bn in military assistance annually, and it has sent billions more since the country began its deadly bombardment of Gaza in October 2023.

“Amid its escalation with Iran, the Israeli government continues to escalate its brutal slaughter and starvation of Palestinians with the funding and backing of the US,” the group added.

“Israel is committing genocide and instigating regional war. The US must stop arming Israel NOW.”

‘Her arm was severed’: Tehran resident tells of neighbours killed in Israeli attacks

According to Iran’s Health Ministry, most of those killed in Israeli attacks over the past week have been civilians, despite Israel saying it is targeting nuclear and military facilities as well as senior figures.

Tehran resident Seyed Vahid told of his neighbours in a nearby apartment building – all civilians – being killed in recent attacks on the city.
“A woman was killed over there. Her arm was severed in the blast,” he said.

“In this other house, a child was killed along with her parents. And in the unit next to it, about six people were killed. Three of them were children,” he added.
