- Iran says more than 400 people, including 13 children, have been killed and at least 3,056 others wounded since Israel launched its attack on June 13. In Israel, at least 24 people have been killed in Iranian strikes.
CNN:
Trump weighs in: President Donald Trump flashed intense anger today as the ceasefire he brokered between Israel and Iran appeared to grow more fragile. The president conveyed he was unhappy in particular with Israel, who he said quickly violated the truce. Trump held a “firm and direct” call with his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu this morning, according to a White House source.
Ceasefire violations alleged: Israel struck a radar site north of Tehran hours after the ceasefire was due to take effect, following accusations that Iran had fired several missiles at Israel. According to the prime minister’s office, Israel refrained from conducting further strikes after Netanyahu spoke to Trump.
CNN poll on strikes: Meanwhile, the US president’s decision to launch airstrikes against Iran during the weekend is broadly unpopular with Americans, according to a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS after the strikes.
BBC:
- Iran has launched missiles at a US airbase in Qatar in response to strikes on its nuclear sites on Saturday
- Donald Trump said there were no US or Qatari casualties, called the Iranian response "very weak" and thanked Iran for "early notice" of it
- Qatar said all the missiles aimed at the US-run Al Udeid base were intercepted and labelled the attack a "flagrant violation"
- Iran's response comes two days after the US launched massive strikes against three nuclear facilities inside Iran
- This was clearly a calculated and choreographed response by Iran and the ball is now in President Trump's court, Frank Gardner writes
- Meanwhile, Israel says it's been targeting Tehran with "unprecedented force", including attacks on "access routes" to the Fordo nuclear site and Evin prison.
Reminder that we are here because of Trump and Netanyahu
