This country doesn’t care about any of that. It doesn’t care about how it appears to others nations if there’s an objective to be met.
It would be the complete collapse of order and humanity. Population centers eradicated, permanent damage to water/food supplies, mass loss of life. All of that. That would lead to global revolt against the power elite. Nukes are almost MORE powerful because of the threat of their use, it keeps some form of civility and stops escalation.
Once that genie is out of the bottle, you can forget about every other form of banned combat.

I believe Israel’s war is with hezbollah technically, not Lebanon(but basically with Lebanon since they keep murdering their civilians and destroying their infrastructure). I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s appetite for war amongst some of the population tho.

Last year, US President Donald Trump campaigned on bringing global peace and leaned heavily on voters’ frustrations with the outcomes of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Now, it appears that foreign policy hawks in Trump’s Republican Party – known as neoconservatives – are gaining sway within the administration, according to Yasmine Taeb, legislative and political director for MPower Change Action Fund.
“It seems very clear that he’s feeling pressure from neoconservative actors within his own support system, and that’s why we’re concerned,” Taeb told Al Jazeera.
“It seems like those voices are being amplified and relied on more heavily right now by him. And that’s incredibly alarming and incredibly troubling.”

But you right to an extent. It's difficult for me to say who is winning. Western media has Iran on the backfoot and everyone else is more ambiguous about who is "winning" against who. But the United States having Israel's back will make sure Iran doesn't "win".
Make no mistake though, Iran "losing" isn't a win for anyone because it would legitimate spark a wider conflict across the region.
Assassination might not even work, that's it's own gamble since we have no knowledge of contingency plans.
