It’s just random as hell and lacks cohesiveness.
None of the episodes seem to flow together... might as well be an anthology with the same ass characters.

No one seems to be taking note that Tic also went somewhere. He could have gone back in time a few hours and that may have given him time to come back and save Hippolyta. Possibly she gets killed in the original timeline. Maybe she changes the timeline somehow, because the Lovecraft Country Book Tic pulled out his pocket was written by George Freeman.
