What's the backstory between Uncle George, Montrose and Tic's mother? Can someone give me a high level breakdown on that please?

The whole storyline hasn't been laid out yet; but it looks like Tic is George's biological son, and Montrose raised Tic as his own. Maybe Tic was the result of an affair that George had?

I think it's pretty clear that George is Tic's real dad. Montrose and Tic's mother only got together because Montrose didn't want to be outed/he did want a family to belong to and Tic's mom had her entire family killed in tulsa massacre so she was looking for a base as well. It was an arrangement. She fell for George and him her so they had an entanglement (the little flashes we get and that scene between her doppleganger & George in the mansion). Montrose kinda knew but didn't want to acknowledge it because he was afraid of losing his family (and cover).

I rewatched the earlier episode when she came back to him and they were talking. I missed them implying that George was his pops, I guess my confusion for Tic's backstory and how he's related to Christina stems from there.

There are clues.
In episode 1, when Tic tells George that he got a letter from his dad about his mom, George makes the face.

Also, in episode 2, George & Montrose discuss Tic's possible paternity while George is on his deathbed.

Is this show good? I heard the people who produced Underground are producing this too? Is this like Trueblood good?

"True Blood" is a good comparison. The problem is, the pilot would give you the impression that it was going to be much better than True Blood.
It has some of the same faults, plus the same weird anachronistic soundtrack choices you might see in a show like Godfather of Harlem.
