Magic essentially. The plan was to heal Uncle George too after the ceremony but instead creepy white dude gets turned to stone and doesn't get the chance to keep his word.

I can only compare episode 2 to episode 1 so while I liked this episode for what it was... episode 1 was

I mean I gotta be honest, I want more of the grounded in racism/history with horror elements we saw in the first episode than wizardry we saw in episode 2.

But that's me.. I'm in for the ride regardless I like the cast a lot and it's all black leads it's dope.. let's see what episode 3 got.
