bro they're f'n crazy. like it shouldn't even be a debate. snyder's superman is the least effective superman ever depicted. he doesn't do jack shyt. all he does is lose.

we get to experience batman's heroics firsthand. we follow him during the metropolis disaster in the beginning, we get to see him kick ass in the batmobile, there's the warehouse fight... oh, not to mention we see him KICK SUPERMAN'S ASS AND UTTERLY EMBARRASS HIM. lmao fukkin swinging him around like a bytch and busting his head with a god damn sink. AND he gets to save superman's own mom!

wonder woman isn't in the movie long enough for a cup of coffee and even she gets her moment. granted it was ruined in the trailers but still... she gets her moment. not to mention she puts up the best fight against doomsday hands down. fukkin chops his hand off and puts in all kinda work.

but what does superman do in this movie. he cries, he mopes, he lets people talk down to him, he's conflicted about doing good things for people, he's always puzzled, always confused... he's got the zoolander blue steel expression going the entire movie.

The montage scenes you mentioned are treated as an afterthought. It's not like we get to witness those heroics and experirence them firsthand. The movie never takes the time to celebrate and glorify Superman's feats because it's too busy apologizing for them.

However the main reason why Superman feels like such a weakling is because he's never triumphant in the face of danger. We see that he can save Lois by plowing down a measly human terrorist but whenever he's confronted with a real challenge he falls short every time. He doesn't win the people over, he doesn't thwart Luthor's scheme, he doesn't beat Batman, he doesn't beat Doomsday... he doesn't even save his own mother.

Wonder Woman gets hit by Doomsday, she gets pushed back 20 feet, she smiles and goes right back at him. Superman gets hit by Doomsday and he goes flying 1000 feet. When he finally gets his moment and strikes the final blow, he gets fukkin OWNED and he dies!

And you don't see why people think this way?

The montage is like the centerpiece of the movie and explains EVERYTHING about how divisive Superman is in the world, the entire movie is about how people react to Superman plus it pays tribute to like 6 different Superman comics.

Which you wouldn't know since you haven't read comic books in 20 years

He fights Doomsday the second he sees him, punches him INTO SPACE and survives a NUCLEAR ATTACK then delivers the killing blow holding KRYPTONITE and sacrifices his life. You talk about heroics and winning people over but this is followed AGAIN by a montage of people praising and mourning Superman and directly leads to Batman changing his ways and wanting to form the JL.

Plus Superman's death inspiring people and other heroes comes, AGAIN, directly from the comics. It was a big point in Infinite Crisis, which you wouldn't know since you haven't read comic books in 20 years

Wonder Woman comes from a WARRIOR RACE who relish fighting, Superman fights when he has to. I'm sure this was a part of comic book lore in your days, bit again the best example of their different attitudes kicks off INFINITE CRISIS..

i was introduced to superman at like 3 years old through the fleischer cartoons and also the adventures of superman 60's cartoons, i've seen every single live action superman movie, i've read a handful of comics from the 80's and 90's, i've read kingdom come, read countless articles, editorials and opinion pieces from esteemed comic writers and aficionados... i've seen superman TAS in it's entirety, i've seen JL and JLU in their entirety...

Because you have proven REPEATEDLY you dont know shyt about the charactor. Youve seen only surface level saturday morning cartoon superman, and an elseworlds tale. You dont know diddly about superman. Its self evident. You dont understand why he would seem morose while saving lives, why he would sacrifice his live and why he wouldnt smile at a challenge like THE AMAZON WARRIOR WONDER WOMAN...you want 1960s childish smiley superman which is what those same movies and Superman TAS is based on...that is the most easily absorbable, basic, CHILDISH portrayal of superman.

THAT superman...has been dead in comics for like 20 years. Which you wouldnt know because you havent read a comic book in 20 years. Superman has DEPTH and LEVELS and PAIN and HEROISM that you know nothing about. He doesn't fight for truth justice and the american way...he saves lives because HE CAN.
