In the first movie, which I rewatched today to recall some info, Cage just outsmarted Goro... not many can fight Goro 1 on 1 and win unless you’re Liu Kang or Shang Tsung or higher tier level (in the storyline).

Up until recently I didn't know that guy was in some legit martial arts movies. I just knew him as the guy from last samurai and other movies.

Why not ? Johnny Cage has potential to be a big character on screen if done right . The fact that they included some characters that aren’t the OG7 tells me they’re telling a story different from the video game storylines.
