Is this real lol

I remember I used to see that Nas and Steven Segal movie at blockbuster back in the day but I never saw this

Yes its real. Its a movie that Nas wrote and produced. It was supposed to be a straight to video/dvd release but Nas cancelled it.

Variety published a review in 2002

Illmatic I was boss
It Was Written I flossed
One of the most creative LPs ever to hit stores
In the Firm I learned I am Nastradamus
QB's Finest, Oochie Wally, faced more problems
I gave it all up so I can chill at home with mama
She was getting old and sick so I stayed beside her
We had the best times, she asked would I make more songs
I told her not till I see her health get more strong
In the middle of that, Jay tried to sneak attack
Assasinate my character, degrade my hood
Cause in order for him to be the Don, Nas had to go
The Gam-B-I-N-O rules I understood
What you want, see, I already had
The Gift and The Curse? fukk that shyt, the first shall be last
I'm the man's man, a rapper's rapper
G-O-D S-O-N, they'll be none after
I was Scarface, Jay was Manolo
It hurt me when I had to kill him and his whole squad for dolo :wow:

Always thought that diss was harder taken in context than Ether. Ether was a napalm bomb but Last Real nikka Alive was just a simple breakdown and dismissal of everything Jay-Z represented and stood for at that time period.

You was born in the '80s, pops drove a Mercedes
Did a bid, coming home to some grown ass kid
Crack baby turn to young thug, description might fit you
Look around it might hit you
No joke, don't I wanna pistol fight with you
shyt comes around faster than you think
Blood and white chalk makes pink, so what's that make you?
Become a creature of habitat, the average cat
Won't see where it's at, or where it's going
The hood waits for no one
I've been through it from Ewings to Buicks, to body viewings
Car chases to court cases, to fly vacations
From wanting it all, to being the object of your admiration :wow: :dead:

Imagination is what they lack
It stops nikkas from getting stacks
Feeling trapped on the block with loose cracks
Wisdom is vital for the survival of the street's disciple

Moonstruck stuck, slow as molasses in my actions
That's compliments of a fast spliff in the night life
In my flight jacket, adrenaline heightened, mimickin' Tyson
After watchin' him cut up Razor Ruddock
In the gutter, which was once ghetto prophecy is now ghetto scripture:wow:
Lookin' back at it, blowjobs from pretty crack addicts
Older Gods wantin' no static, told some lil' nikkas they can have it
Coke baggin' and toe-taggin'
They took Will, let me describe him, a live one
I think that he was the true God's Son - not Jesus, but fearless
His ear was up on them sounds too, he'd hear somethin'
Not to his likin', and say, "Son, they bitin' you"
He never got to see my debut, wild-mannered
But wild with them hammers, nikkas frontin' couldn't stand it
Took him off the planet, left us in '92
With the philosophy of what arms do, a true street's disciple:wow::damn:

Plug the mics up, I'm ready to rock, knocking
Reminiscing of measuring pots of Pyrex, cook in the kitchen
Captain Hook to these infants
It's like my folks is still on the benches
Surrounded by villains and henchmen, was a killer convention:wow:
1991, son, gold fronts on the facial, gun buck by the naval
Disciple could blaze you, we laced it with embalming fluid
Rhyming to music all this time
Fighting 'bout how Kane and Rakim would do it
Seemed impossible to us that we could ever leave
From the block, where the world was forever freezing
Hell if I ever let them shovel me, son, in this cell again
fukk these devil policemen, plush leathers, I need them
Risking my freedom, burners in bubble coats
fukk a sermon from the neighborhood pope
He's sexing ho's, old fart, he's busting ones when he stroke
Multi-colored Pelle Pelle's, young stretch mark bellies
Babies born in a cycle, future disciples:wow:

3
verses of hip hop perfection:wow:

This dude is one of the fakest street dudes in recent history but he on point with this though, 🫡😄

It’s not rocket science, Illmatic and IWW Nas was Nas in his street bag essentially…different levels of the street clearly but street nonetheless…always with snacks for thought and reflection mixed in, he’s never just gonna give you straight bragging/ignorant/drug dealer/fly talk. It’s not coincidental that those are most of these heathens favorite Nas, imho. They want a hero, no pun intended. In our world, the heroes are the bad guys, disgustingly..

When he got TOO “preachy” and “positive” and started talking/thinking different he became broccoli, he became Brussel Sprouts to these children. Maturity is kryptonite to the immature bro, who doesn’t know this? Kids don’t want to be that….they wanna be ballers and hustlers and do dumb shhit. Jayz is pizza. Fab is Chinese chicken wings. Kiss is candy, pun intended. It’s not rocket science, rap fans are babies, generally speaking. B!tches (and you b!tch n!gs) can’t twerk to “I Can” and “One Mic”

I Can is Nas’s highest charting song (#12) and One Mic was a top 40 hit.

…that’s great. ?

Nas got no club/street bangers is the #1 narrative being pushed by the hate train…idk what songs that charted in the Top 40 has to do with that. They still can’t twerk to those, lol. My point is, Nas the person and his direction as an artist changed somewhat to a more reflective, caring, empathetic dude and the streets, because their the streets, wasn’t digging that too tough
