Nas doesn’t have the hits to do Superbowl, they’re right.. How many top 20 hits does he have? Even his biggest songs didn’t go to number 10 in the Bilboard charts, how much does he stream? You can’t compare him to Kendrick who’s literally the biggest rapper in the world, and is breaking Bilboard records, even then Kendrick has always been a big seller but it’s only the last year where he has elevated to the type of rapper who could do a Superbowl.

Eminem
Drake
Kendrick
50
Snoop

And maybe Jay and Nicki Minaj are the only rappers with the mainstream success to do an event of that level.

50 and Nicki? :dead:

bro J-Lo & Shakira are international pop stars...Kendrick was the biggest artist in the world.

Nas is NOT a super bowl type performer.. he even knows that.. and thats not a big deal.

Nas is my favorite musician but yeah this is a stupid question. The Super Bowl is a spectacle. Even usher had to bust out roller skates. There’s no pop element whatsoever to Nas music or personality.

The only way he’d ever maybe get on a Super Bowl stage would be if Jay z did the east coast version of what they did with Dre and snoop. Maybe Nas could pop out and do a verse from ny state of mind and that would go right into Jay and Alicia keys singing Empire State of mind and of course that would have to take place at met life stadium.

And damn yeah I never thought of it but if Ye didn’t lose his shyt he would’ve a million percent headlined a Super Bowl halftime

I wish Nas gave a little more love & attention to It Was Written himself
Has he said anything disparaging about it?? Or you mean he just doesn't mention it enough?

When it dropped the critics weren't very kind, a lot of negative/underwhelming feedback. Those are dorks tho, lol, that shh!t ran the street and made Nas a big dog...the naysayers wanted him to stay in Queensbridge forever. I loved it then...love it now, it's become a little overrated (imho!!) but whatever, I'm here for any Nas love.

All dope records (I skip the first 2 all the time, respectfully...they're okay tho)...but these aren't great records, nothing special imo. He's rapping rapping on everything...I'm just talking about as records. I'd take "One Time 4 Your Mind" over all these, respectfully. I was tempted to throw "The Setup" in the pot too but nahhhhh son, I couldn't do it. Someone can argue that the highs on IWW are so high, tho, that it makes up for some of the lows. It's a 4.5 out of 5 for me. Illmatic is a 10 out of 5, lol...but whatever, it's all subjective.

Ill thing is...Illmatic is virtually flawless and IWW is arguably an A...but I still got Stillmatic over IWW. Nas is different. Lost Tapes is right there too. And I'm speaking as objectively as an admitted fan can, I don't just think everything my favorites do is great...but son is undeniable. 4-classic level albums and 2 or so more that aren't that that far behind. Easily TBE

I mean bro. When u got G Rap. Nas’ own brother. Nas’ own daughter. Yara Shahidi’s mom. Joe Budden, Lupe Fiasco, Jadakiss, Royce Da 59, Havoc, basically the entire Slaughterhouse keep it real, Fabolous, Cordae, etc etc. One thing these people have in common is they are elite emcees. It’s literally the album that made most people fall in love with Nas. Alotta nikkas WENT BACK to Illmatic. History is being completely rewritten for IWW and it’s annoying cause I remember the streets back then. shyt was bumping out every whip. I know young nikkas in real life like 27 years old that feel IWW is the greatest rap album ever made. Just look at reactions to the album online to people just hearing both. ALOTTA people either prefer IWW or feel it’s ever bit as good as Illmatic. This isn’t just some small group of people we talking about. Jungle had to damn near bark on an interviewer cause he said he likes IWW more than Illmatic and the interviewer said “oh ur one of those guys..” and the nikka Jungle was like “wtf u mean by that?..I was there for both albums creation..”

Agreed.. I loved most of Ilmatic initially.. funnny because I would go in Tower Records and "steal" the singles but not get the album..lol

IWW made me a Nas fan. And then I went back and got Illmatic. Like most people say its like Off the Wall (Illmatic) vs Thriller (IWW)

Let me add to this.. reason why I was stealing the cassingles is because it had the remixes which I was feeling more than the original. It aint hard to tell remix was my shyt... The world is your remix too

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
I actually think history is being CORRECTED in IWW’s favor in real time. Retrospective reviews have put in the classic territory and bloggers and reactionists absolutely love it. Rolling Stone went from giving it a 2 star review in 96 to giving it four stars and including it on their list of 500 Greatest Rap Albums.

Nowadays nobody really bats an eye when you call It Was Written a classic. Its a perfect example of an album thats grown in appreciation over time.

I wish Nas gave a little more love & attention to It Was Written himself
History is being rewritten to how the people felt about the album in real time. The reviewers are just late to the party. Only a SMALL minority hated on it but media tried to make like that was the majority opinion. It NEVER was. And Nas used to show alotta love to IWW until Illmatic started getting all kinds placements and events and love. But even then he came out and said he was tired of celebrating Illmatic.

Affirmative Action is a certified classic that shyt was bumping out every whip and still gets sampled till this day. nikkas could quote the beginning of AZ verse instantly in the 90s. So u buggin for that. Live nikka Rap is fire. Suspect is actually an album fav by alotta people. Check the reactions online with that track. That’s personally a top 5 track on the album for me. Nas is Coming is the only weak spot. And I get it. Illmatic only has 9 songs my guy. IWW is well rounded and that’s why it gets love. It’s a gritty street album but kinda polished too. Also extremely creative. And Nas was spitting the best rhymes of his life all over that shyt.

I don't see Nas ever doing the Super Bowl, but to say that he can't do it is ridiculous. People are talking about the pop element, but they forget there was a time where they only had legacy rock bands performing at the show. Sure, you would get someone like Prince every once in a while, but who talks about Tom Petty's halftime show? Where does The Who rank among all-time halftime show performances? The halftime show only became this spectacle because the bar was raised as high as it could from the beginning (Michael Jackson). But it's not a measurement of showmanship or grandiose performance skill. You're doing a stadium concert for 15 minutes, you're not up there performing moves from Cirque du Soleil.

Nas wouldn't need to do acrobatics or leap from a scaffolding to have a good show. You just need songs that people know, and he has those. It's only in the last decade or so that the halftime show has become this highly anticipated event, and even then, people will still complain no matter who's up there.

Personally, if there's anyone I would want to see do the halftime show one day, it's the Jonas Brothers, but that's a discussion for another time.

50 and Nicki? :dead:

What’s funny? Nicki has 23 Top 10 hits on the billboard charts. She has 3 number 1’s, whether you like it or not Nicki is huge for a certain generation of women of all races.

She could do a set of songs including

Moment 4 Life,
Super Freaky Girl,
Super Bass
Anaconda
Starships
Monster Verse
Where dem Girls At(FT)
By My Side
Feeling Myself

Quite easily.

50 has two albums worth of hits, not ordinary hits but some of the biggest in rap history.

In da Club
Candy Shop
Many Men
21 Questions
Just a lil Bit
Window Shopper
Ayo Technology

But I admit he’s probably the only questionable artist I named.

Why do you lack adequate comprehension skills? Where did I compare Nas to Jim Jones or Cam? The comparison was the rappers I named in my post, don’t put words in my mouth.

He doesn’t have 20 hit records if we’re using Bilboard charts, YouTube views, streaming to gauge what a hit record is.

Record hits are undeniable, all the artists I named have multiple Bilboard top 20 entries Nas doesn’t.

He has sold 25 million records based off albums and being a GOAT level rapper, he has a limited amount of hits compared to the rappers I named, you can go check the stats.

They're all mid to me champion. You know it's no hate or bs with me, Nas my damn role model, lol...just being honest. Not mid...that's cap...Nas is Coming and LNR is kinda mid tho to me, tbh. Every song that I didn't mention tho is damn near a 5/5 imo tho, that's why that shh!t is still like a B+ to me.

Affirmative Action was a single right? I know it was a "street" single, like it was on the radio and shh!t, but was it released as an official single? I just say that to say, of course nigs know the verses, it was on the radio regularly, Nas was on fire. Top 5 on IWW?? Salute, lol, I strongly disagree brudda.
