The only reason i care about sales is the likelihood of these artists continuing to put out material as opposed to falling to the side

With an aging fanbase its more difficult to keep them engaged. In time im afraid selling 2700 units will turn into fuccckkk it nobody cares anyway...

When's the last time Ra put out a proper album ?

Ive been rooting for everybody on the legend series to do well in order for mass appeal to at least recoup the money and potentially go on another run next year, become a SUCCESFUL LEGACY RAP LABEL as newer talent didnt really pan out.

Also a bit surprised the 12th of December was only mentioned once by Premier, thought it would get some traction from there, maybe even that was a sort of a slip up from Chris (wouldve expected him to bring this up at every occasion on tour after that, to my knowledge he didnt)

Eagerly anticipating either way and hope its def by the end of the year even if it means the 26th

I get what you’re saying but a few things.

1). Nas ain’t Rakim. He put out SIX albums within a THREE YEAR period whereas Rakim just seems to drop whenever. It could be years before he releases anything whereas Nas, before he went on that six year hiatus, was good for an album every two years. Nas has also said he has no plans on retiring and he’ll be rapping until he’s 80.

2). Nas has said throughout the run with Hit Boy that he doesn’t care about streams or sales. He’s rapping for the love it, so i’m assuming thats what it is and after 35 years in the game he knows what it takes to sell of thats what he wants to do.

3). Nas has also embraced being a legacy artist and seems to be ok with no longer being at the forefront of the rap zeitgeist when it comes to anything other than skill. He’s damn near anointed Kendrick Lamar as his chosen successor so maybe we as fans just need to get used to the new normal of Nas and his team not going out of their way to make his newer projects big events, although i’d argue that a Nas/Preme album deserves that treatment.

4). Mass Appeal reposted Premier’s initial announcement on social media so my assumption is that it is indeed the official release date and from what I saw a bunch of sites and blogs posted about it including Complex and Rolling Stone.

I assume we'll get a single in the coming week or following week. And while I don't think NAS will do a promo run I do think he's going to do something. He did an interview with the EYL guys months ago, I assume that will come out. I've said it before but I could see him doing Kevin Hart's show. Basically I think he'll mirror what a lot of big artists are doing in terms of avoiding music journalists for celeb-on-celeb interviews.

IMO besides the Hart thing, the best move would be Kendrick interviewing him. Same manager, you automatically go viral, etc. The views on that are gonna trump just going to The Breakfast Club and having CTG make Nas uncomfortable with weirdo questions lol.
This is an amazing idea.
