yup. There's really no excuse to lose that game when your defense is playing Marshall Lynch, Tolbert and Russ Wilson like that.

idk if you watched the game, but that was our game. Our offense was running well on a few drives but it only takes 3 consecutive bad play calls to lose possession, and what got us is we started losing time on offense which happens quite frequently to us. The defense was very good on our part, only issue is obviously our corners/safeties suck at coverage. We woulda won easily if it werent for stupid penalties/mistakes, bad coaching rivera probably handed out ice cream during halftime, and becus mike shula decided to stop running our awesome offense, which was running.

Look if you follow me you would know I've been critical of Cam in the past but this loss wasn't on him. He had 2-3 big drops most notably Greg Olsen. The D did it's job. Rivera just doesn't call enough dynamic plays for him. More read options etc. He's 6"5. If he just lays down it's 5 yards. They were running the ball pretty decent. More bootlegs etc. And that fumble was crucial. Can't really fault him.

I concur. In my opinion the perfect example of Rivera's conservative style was the stalled 4th and inches drive today. In a game where Rivera hasn't called many designed QB runs, a Newton QB dive is the perfect way to surprise the D and move the chains. But due to Rivera's reticence, he doesn't go for it. Instead he goes for the safe option and punts the ball. In my opinion, the likelihood a defense stops a 6'5 235 QB diving for some inches is minuscule.

Too conservative. The Jets offense was more aggressive pass wise than Carolina today.

cam didnt really have enough time for too many deep plays, we were doin well with our bunches offense mixed with running, probably coulda used a couple more deep streaks to smitty or even lafell since they were all up on the run game
