Old school style bicycle save, don't see that much anymore with the big ass pads they have now

The pad size has less to do with it than the style used. Most goalies are using the butterfly style or hybrid so they are less likely to be in a position to perform the bicycle kick save which is more likely to be used in the stand-up style. It was kind of weird desperation save but it worked.

TSN, which holds the league's national cable package until the end of this season, has been shut out of the new deal. Its only NHL presence will be 26 Leafs games in Ontario and Winnipeg Jets games shown in the Manitoba region.

Rogers took baseball away from tsn by buying the jays, they bought half of the raptors and took that, they bought the score and turned that into another channel and got wrestling, and now they took every single hockey game from tsn except for 26 maple leafs game

TSN might as well fold without hockey.

What drove goalie styles is goalie coaches telling their goalies to use the butterfly blocking technique as their primary save selection. The pad size changed after the fact, not before.

Not really a blow to the Canadian olympic team,team is so deep with talent if 4-5 guys go down,theres so many great players to fill in....Itll give Lucic,St Louis or Duchesne a chance to make the team now...

I forgot about Sharp,he'll get alot of consideration with how we like to have sets of teammates playing together (Seabrook,Keith...Marleau,Thornton...Perry,Getzlaf)

You're alluding to how the the style came to be, I'm talking about how it completely took over the game for goalies. Even comparing goalie styles before and after the changes in pads is ridiculous, even standup goalies had to implement butterfly techniques. It's why virtually every goalie that has come up since the late 90's utilizes the butterfly

Basically all I'm saying bigger pads = less standup goalies = less saves like the one posted.
