NHL doesn't want more teams in Canada, Winnipeg only got a team back because how bad the ownership situation in Atlanta was. NHL feels growing the game in non-traditional markets like Vegas will help grow the game. Personally, Vegas is the last city the NHL should try to expand to, at least Houston and Seattle have good reps as sports cities.

Houston's not happening because Les Alexander doesn't want an NHL team anymore after his failed attempt at buying the Oilers and only a team owned by him will be able to use the Toyota Center. A new team would require a new arena in Houston and I don't think that's happening anytime soon although I do agree the NHL in Houston would work. Personally, I think the potential for the NHL in Vegas is underrated as it is an untested market for major league sports and there aren't many options in Vegas for family entertainment.

I'm aware of why Houston won't be getting a team in the near future, probably won't happen until Alexander is no longer the Rockets/Totoya Center owner at the earliest, but I feel Houston is a much stronger market with a natural rival to Dallas to match than Vegas. With Vegas, I feel like it's a boom or bust situation especially considering it's more of a tourist/transient city where I believe the NBA would be a better sport to test it than the NHL where unless they are good right away they won't be a hottest thing in town for very long.

I read he was asking for 6.5 per year, if that's the case than trading probably was their only other option. Welp Hawks will only be down for a year or 2 per usual. At least Dano and Anisimov are solid players that will help soften Saad's loss to a degree

impossible
was reading that teams were willing to throw a BIG offer sheet his way that the hawks couldnt match so at least they get something

Brandon Saad was an obvious candidate for a big offer sheet tomorrow. You'd have to think the #CBJ are confident they can get him signed.

Bowman said they weren't even close contract wise, and Im guessing they were aware of massive contract sheets incoming

I guess we got decent value back in return , I was heated at first, but Ive cooled down a bit here. Anisimov will be a solid center for us and it sounds like Marko Dano is a really good prospect, dude is 20 years old and had 21 pointed in 35 games last season :ehh:
