The ps5 pro already delivers the base ps5 quality setting graphics or better at 60fps using a performance, quality, or single pro setting with some games utilizing an exclusive ps5 pro quality setting at 30fps with better RT and other render settings. What I expect with PSSR 2 is the quality setting that is exclusive to the ps5 pro with some games to be at 60fps instead of 30fps using upscaling or dynamic 4k that is indistinguishable from native 4k. The quality setting exclusive to the ps5 pro at 60 fps will be the new quality setting for all games that are ps5 pro enhanced and could be the only settings unless the developers decide to do a performance setting that provide the same graphics as the current ps5 pro performance, quality, or single pro setting with an fps between 60 to 120fps. Not sure about games with an 8k setting. There could also be better game boost with the ps1 to ps4 games.

Will the ps5 pro 2026 update include frame gen? The update will be fsr4 so I expect frame gen to be included. With frame gen the quality settings exclusive to the ps5 pro at 4k/120 or between 60fps and 120fps could be an actuality. This could also work by reducing the base resolution when upscaling or combining that with frame gen.

The problem with 4k/120 or fps above 60fps is, the ps5 pro only has an hdmi bandwidth of 32 gbps, which is ridiculous since this is being sold as a premium device. So when playing games with 120hz enabled to play above 60fps or 4k/40 with the ps5, the ps5 or ps5 pro does not display 10bit RGB. I noticed this when I first started playing Rift Apart a couple of years ago at 4k/40 with 120hz enabled and noticed the quality was not as good. Sony needs to update the bandwidth with a software update since they claimed they would a couple years ago, unless that cannot be updated with software. The ps5 pro should be at least 40 gbps. The series x has a bandwidth of 40gbps.

I was excited watching that video. My only criticism was DF comparing a PS5 pro to a 5090 setup. Of course the $3000 PC is going to look better lol. But the Pro didn't look too far off from it either :blessed:
The difference will shrink after the 2026 update. The ps5 pro performance setting equivalent to or better than the quality settings graphics on ps5, depending on the game, is pc ultra or high and the graphics settings exclusive to the ps5 pro is pc ultra along with the best ray tracing settings with worse framerates. The better upscaling or the ability to play at native 4k with better framerates and sometimes with path tracing is why the quality is better on a $3000 pc using the same graphic settings.

Suppose the 2026 update doesn't provide the graphics settings exclusive to the ps5 pro at 60fps or better, the ps5 pro performance settings equivalent to pc ultra or high will still be 60fps or better with better quality than the quality now. There is also the ability to play the graphics settings exclusive to the ps5 pro at near, at, or better than 60fps using VRR on 120hz tvs, though any settings with120hz enabled don't display RGB 4;4:4, they display Ycbcr 4:2:2, which is noticeably worse. That needs to be solved before the 2026 update releases.

Yeah I've been enjoying my pro so far. It has been a much better and smoother experience then playing on the OG PS5 especially when developers fully take advantage of the tech. But a bigger issue that's been popping up has just been how terrible the optimization has been for a quite a few games this Gen especially with the unreal 5. But this update if it does what it's rumored to do will truly show why getting the Pro was the better investment overall to tide people over until the Ps6

Thankfully a lot of sonys games don’t use it.
