I'm guessing it's because of football season (which will make WWE back down in ratings anyway, so they feel like why bother). Also, unless it's Royal Rumble, SummerSlam, and Wrestlemania season, they do not give a f_ck.
Remember when they used to routinely compete with the NFL? and no, I'm sorry, but when you constantly crow about how many social media fans you have when compared to the NFL and other leagues, then you don't get to phone it in when they're in season

this is a myth, a thing of the past. when it comes to the major shows, i think the only trick they have left in the bag is literally just bringing back part timers. every single big ppv they bring back a part timer, all guys that got over before kids in the audience were even born.
look at this year's rumble, they didn't even try. one of the worst builds ever, amounted to nothing.
wrestlemania, hands down the worst build ever across the entire card.
summerslam was only a month ago and i bet you don't even remember 90% of the shyt leading up to it.
and what did they accomplish during all this? nothing. all that focus on roman reigns and he's in the midcard now. us smarks saw this coming from a mile away. they wasted the royal rumble AND wrestlemania on this guy.
i think it boils down to the fact that they just aren't concerned much with putting out a quality product. it's that simple. it's just not that important to them. public image, brand awareness, media expansion... those are what's important to them.
