There were ties between Russia and the PKK back in the Cold War days. Secondly Russia has shown they will support the Kurds in Syria (YPG) who have ties with the PKK. The PKK before never had manpads before that shootdown. This was a message from Russia to Turkey. Arming the Syrian Kurds with manpads and ATGMs would end up in the hands of the PKK. By arming the PKK Putin would destabilise Turkey and plunge it into a civil war. Here is the video.you seem to be up on Syria more than the average bear. (sorry for the late reply, caught in a maelstrom of events at the moment). Why are you so sure that Russia armed the PKK, or that they would in the future?
