First season did and incredible job of world building. Singleton had L.A. seeming like a dream for black people in that period l.

Damn, I work for the creator of Sankofa running his bookstore. Ngl it’s kinda trippy to hear y’all talk about it. That’s what most people tell me about their experience seeing the movie when they were young. I could never watch another movie about enslavement after seeing Sankofa.

And yeah, the Elmina shots reminded me of Sankofa a lot. It also reminded me of the director’s wife’s film Through the Door of No Return which had a lot of scenes at Elmina Castle. That whole episode was absolute fire though I wish Leon would’ve listened to Wanda and stayed. I’m hoping they make it back to Ghana.
