How in the HELL is this the BLACKEST MOVIE OF THE YEAR

Yeah, it had four black actors in major roles. Tika Sumpter, Idris Elba (as Knuckles), Natasha Rothwell, and Shemar Moore. You don’t usually get that unless it’s a movie specifically made for black people.

I saw this today and really enjoyed it. I heard the first movie was decent, but I didn’t bother with it because I figured it was only Sonic, Eggman, and then a bunch of human characters made only for the movie. And that just didn’t interest me. But this has everything you’d want out of a Sonic movie – you have Sonic and Eggman, obviously, and the human characters from the first movie return (I actually enjoyed them more than I thought I would ) but you also have Tails, Knuckles, the Master Emerald…

… the Chaos Emeralds, G.U.N., Super Sonic, and fukking SHADOW in the mid-credits scene.

It’s overall your standard kids movie, nothing groundbreaking. I laughed at a good amount of the jokes, there was some nice action scenes, and as someone who grew up playing games like Sonic Adventure, Adventure 2, Heroes, etc., it was really fun.

I loved catching all the Easter eggs. They were so clever. The movie didn't stop and go, "Hey millennials, remember this?!" If you were able to catch what the movie was throwing, you caught it.

Jim Carrey really is the MVP of this series. I know he is talking about retirement but I hope they bust out the checkbook for him and bring him back for the 3rd one. I legit went when his voice went into autotune

This movie did a good job with the Easter eggs and made it just funny enough for the kids and adults.

Honestly can’t wait for the 3rd one..

Saw it this past weekend, pretty good. Solid 7. Wish I was a director because I would add a lot of that sonic 3 soundtrack and cinematography in there and bump it to an 8.

I actually like that the writers didn't feel completely beholden to the video game canon and just kinda did their own thing with the lore but still kept it faithful to the spirit of the franchise. Feels like a nice composite of the Adventure era and the OG trilogy.
