I installed Final Fantasy XI on this thing,

The nostalgia maaaaan.

They’ve basically turned this game single player except for endgame content where you need big groups.

You fukk with 14? I heard it used to be playable on the SD but I never tried it out.

Yup! Not as much as XI though, but I have XIV running the non-Steam version on the Steam Deck with 100% playability. Works great but there’s some hassle to it last I remember. Basically have to install it on Desktop then add it to Gaming mode.

It was definitely great for Astrologian because of the touch screen for macro bar/card buffs and I use the pads as a quick target for party members 1-8. The controller being so versatile is such a game changer and made me think of buying a Steam Controller.

Very cool to be playing MMORPG’s on a handheld.

What kinda performance do you get in 11 and 14 on the SD?

Both incredible honestly.

XI is great, but haven’t tried a full-on endgame run yet as I’m still leveling/grinding some secondary jobs. However, been playing it as my only game the last two months. This is with all the 3rd party plugins/windower/etc.

What I used to install it:

I didn’t really do the High-Res stuff at the end to make it look like a modern MMORPG, I kept as is once the game got installed to keep the original vibe.

It does get a weird choppy/poppy effect in some cities, don’t know what that’s about but it doesn’t bother me much.

XIV I cleared content with trusts with zero troubles. I think it may perform even better than FFXI (maybe the official, non-windower Steam version of FFXI plays better).
