So I watched the first episode earlier...did the producers just say fukk these kids this season? By kids I mean kids in their audience. shyt seems much more demonic now. I used to watch this with my baby girl. Not anymore.

when think about it 08 had the same mind powers as 01 she just don't lock people in place when she use hers mind hallucinations powers on people like he does. the whole point of the project was to find and train kids that could mimic the powers of 01 without his

Just finished watching all episodes of Part 1, that ending 
I liked a lot of what they did this season, especially creeping further intoterritory.
The Hawkins crew remains the highlight of all the groups they focused on.

Some editing notes from Chapter 2: Vecna's Curse
The graphic match at the 5:23 mark of Chapter 2 where the camera zooms in on the tape recording machine then quick cuts to the wheel of Mike's landing plane is
At the 12:21 mark when Nancy and Fred da Twinkson walk out the high school doors to go on their field trip, we get an upside down cut to the East Hawkins trailer park where Chrissy was murked, foreshadowing the gate to the Upside Down that Vecna opens.
At the 20:28 mark, with Hop emerging in Russia, a soldier asks him where he thinks he's going, then proceeds to gun butt Hop in the face with his AK. As he makes contact, we get a match on action with a smash cut to Hop getting punched in the face in a torture scene. Hopper does his best Harrison Ford impression when he says "why don't u tell me. She's wearing a RUSSIAN UNIFORM!"
You Spin me Round (Like a Record) by Dead or Alive plays when we cut to the Rink-O-Mania scene with the kids spinning on the rink, including a breh who was not skating in Harlem.
Not editing related but the breh talking to Lucas at the 25:30 mark actually sounds like a real breh and not how some white guy would write one of us as. Credit to that breh with the "look, I'm sure it's nothin, aight. Prolly the neighbors complaining about the noise or some shyt... You aight?" It was so simple and authentic that I was impressed. It was like the opposite of a videogame when a white dude will very clearly be voicing a Wesley Snipes looking nikka which always takes me outta the scene.
There's another graphic match at the 38:12 mark where the camera zooms up into the disco ball of Rink-O-Mania which dissolves into the sun in the next shot.
At the 45:28 mark there's another match on action when Steve closes the door to the Hawkins knockoff Blockbuster followed by a quick cut to Max hanging up the phone. The door closing for Steve was sad cuz the girl he was just talking to had a boyfriend. Max hanging up the phone tho was a happy moment cuz she got some much needed info. One door closes, another door opens, in the form of a hung up phonecall

That's just how they do her makeup during public appearances but on the show, I still see a little girl
I agree. I was also one of the folks that thought that storyline was corny but since they brought back Dr. Brenner from getting mauled by Demagorgon
they def gotta bring her back. I expected her to make an appearance at some point and her brief mention makes me think she could still make one in S4b. That's an opportunity to better close and even redeem her storyline now.Eight lowkey reminds me of Jet from Avatar: TLA. Both of them were bent on vengeance and shared a similar tragic story with the heroes and even tried to corrupt them with the shared trauma they both debuted in a filler type episode too
