the IRS (my employer) paid off 20k of my loans (10k each 23 & 24)
with the government SLRP predictably postponed until further notice,
i'm waiting to pay this last $1500 until december (before defaulting)
just to be sure, to see if they're going to resume it this year or not

schools will either have to lower costs or shut down grad programs because enrollment would drop considerably otherwise.

My money is they don’t shut down but accept lesser students and cover costs through scholarships. The long game would be to wait a few years and see if this gets reversed. If it does it’s easier to just stop giving scholarships than it would be raise the price. In the meanwhile expect China and Europe to overtake America completely when it comes to science and education.

College staff is going to get fired left and right though.

If you have a master’s degree consider yourself lucky, getting into a program and affording it is going to make it a lot more rare.
