What I don't get is that nothing in the build-up to the Black/Murphy match indicated a knock-down back and forth match would be on the way. I'll take it because it was good shyt, pal. But storytelling-wise it should have been a squash

How so?

It all started with Buddy knocking on Black’s door. Clearly that meant he was with the shyts. At no point in the lead Up to this match was he quick to back down to Black neither.
